Mathew Kuti, the Ikorodu – born national champion who won the Table Tennis Cadet and Mini – Cadet categories at the 14th Aso Table Tennis Club Annual Championships (ATTC), in Abuja in 2021, on Tuesday lost the quarter final game at the ongoing International Table Tennis Federation Africa Youth Championships in Tunisia.
He lost to Gaber Yassin of Egypt.
Mathew with Mustapha Mustapha and Musa Mustapha, had at the weekend won silver in the U – 15 team event at the ITTF.
According to ITTF – Africa on its social media handles, it was a tough match for Mathew who performed beyond expectations.
“Tough 4-1 loss to Egypt’s Gaber Yassin in the QF of the U-15 boys’ singles but Kuti Matthew will take consolation that he’s performed more than his expectations as a new member in the Nigerian team and will return to Ikorodu in Lagos with a medal”, it said.
