The Chairman of the Ijede Development Foundation (IDF), Alhaji Fola Salu has charged Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) to be more involved in bringing progress to the community.
Alhaji Salu also said that the council managers should give more support to initiatives by individuals and groups in the interests of the Council.
The IDF Chairman spoke at the event organised by the Starlight newspaper, ljede, where Allhaji Bashiru Akinwande Saminu and Princess Kafilat Omolade Hassan were honoured as Outstanding Achievers.
The event, which took place at the TDT Event Centre, Ijede on Monday, July 11, 2022, had many prominent Ijede residents in attendance including the Council’s Vice Chairman, Hon. Femi Kabir Kareem.
“I want to appeal to the Ijede LCDA to get more involved in initiatives that will bring progress and develoment to Ijede”, he charged.
“There are many things that people could do to bring development to Ijede and I expected the council to support such”.
He said that the Council has not responded or taken any step regarding a proposal on Sunday Market which was sent to the council.
“There was a proposal on Sunday Market that was sent to the council for implementation but which has not seen the light of the day. The Odofin is aware of this, the IDF said.
He said that the idea of the Sunday Market is to bring improvements to social and economic lives in Ijede.
The community developer called on residents in the community to continue to initiate ideas that will bring about developments.
Hon. Femi Kabir Kareem, Vice Chairman, Ijede LCDA, speaking with THE IMPACT, said that the council is doing everything possible to bring about progress.
He assured that the council authority has not jettisoned the proposal.
“On the issue raised by Alhaji Salu, the Council has been trying in its own way to contribute to the progressive and developmental-oriented initiatives within Ijede LCDA and won’t relent”, he said.
“However, it is worthy to note that programmes and projects need to be well prioritized in terms of fund availability etc.
“This is one project the council is not losing sight on. We know the importance and benefits attached, but securing a good and befitting location that will accommodate such alongside an ultra-modern motor park has been a little difficult, but our search effort is still on and would come up with something realistic and suiting anytime soon”, he assured.
