Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, has said that the lack of development in Isiwu is caused by the activities of the ‘Ajagungbales’ (landgrabbers) who are holding the community hostage.
The four term lawmaker, while also commending the efforts of the Eweye of Isiwu, His Royal Majesty, Oba Olukayode David Raji, Olugbade II, in developing the town, assured the royal father and entire residents of Isiwu that the Lagos State Government is doing everything to eradicate the illegal activities of the landgrabbers.
Hon. Agunbiade gave the assurance while delivering his keynote address at the 8th Annual Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting organized by the State Assembly, which was held at the 700 Seater Auditorium, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
The representative of the Ikorodu Constituency I, who sponsored the Bill that outlawed the activities of ‘Ajagungbales’, was also direct in pointing accusing fingers at the land owing families as being culpable of bringing in landgrabbers to settle scores against themselves.
“Ajagungbales have drawn Isiwu’s progress backward and its quite unfortunate. But, the state government is working toward eradicating their activities with existing law”, Hon. Agunbiade lamented.
“These Ajagungbales don’t just come into our lands alone, but our Baales, Olori Ebis and other family members are usually the ones that always invite them.
“We need to remind everyone that we still have strict law against the activities of the landgrabbers if anyone caught breaching the law call me to intervene, I will not answer and if I do, I will ask the law enforcement agents to handle such person very well’, Hon. Agunbiade warned.
The lawmaker also thanked Baales in Ikorodu who have not only refused to compromise their positions but also adhered strictly with the law against Ajagungbales.
“In Ikorodu, we are glad that our own Baales are listening and have not compromised by working with ‘Ajagungbales”.
