The new Chairman for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Ikorodu and District Society, Princess Kafilat Omolade Hassan, MMP, FCA, has unveiled programmes which the executive Council that she will be presiding over in the next one year, will be executing.
Princess Hassan was sworn – in alongside 10 other members of the council by the 58th ICAN National President, Mallam Tijani Musa Isa, BSc, MIoD , FCA, at the investiture ceremony held at the Ikorodu Town Hall on Saturday, June 25, 2022.
At the ceremony were His Royal Majesties, Oba (Engr.) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo and Oba (Dr) Akeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo, the Obateru of Egbin.
Also, Sen. Adeseye Kingsley Ogunlewe, Chairman, Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) and former Minister of Works, Bashorun Babatunde Rotinwa, former Head of Service, Lagos State, Aremo Adesegun Ogunlewe, former Head of Service, Lagos State, Prof. Ajetunmobi, Deputy Chairman, Ikorodu Town Hall Management Board Rev. Samson Disu, first Chairman, ICAN, Ikorodu among others.

The agenda for the calendar year, according to the chairman, was approved by the Executive Members at a pre – investiture retreat.
“Having received this baton of leadership, with a great sense of humility and responsibility, below are the programmes presented and ratified by the Executive Members, at the retreat held on 4th June, at the Landmark College, Ikorodu, for the Chairmanship year 2022/2023, resting our trust in the Almighty God for a very successful implementation.
“To complete the secretariat building and put it to a befitting standard and taking full possession and fencing of the examination centre in Imota”, she said.
“Training interested members on vocational trades that would enhance their living standard”.

Her administration is also planning on improving on the catch them young programme.
“To record a higher number of students, both at the ATS and Professional levels”, she told the large audience in the hall.
“To appoint a woman that would be our representative at SWAN as permitted by the bye law”.
In the area of welfare, Princess Kafilat Hassan said:
“To give more attention to the welfare of our members by monitoring their attendance at meetings and regularly checking on them via calls to confirm their health and moral status”.

“Partnering with job outfits towards assisting members to seek employment.
The 2022/2023 ICAN administration in Ikorodu, which also plans to create an Elders’ Council, improve relstionship with corporate organisations in Ikorodu and ICAN Ambassadors, also revealed that efforts will be geared towards providing scholarships for students.
“To scout for sponsors of scholarship for ATS students within Ikorodu Division”, she said.
Other areas the new Chairman would be focusing on are income generation and membership drive among others.
“Improve on our income generation by quarterly organizing rich topical issues, through fee paying seminars and webinars to supplement our members’ subscription.
“To increase our membership strength by scouting and fishing for qualified members residing within lkorodu Division.
“Faculties of different areas of specialization would be created in order to improve the technical among our members through brainstorming which is expected to be headed by a highly skilled member.
“To have a group Insurance Policy for our members and encourage the District to maintain Benevolent-Sinking Fund”, she said.
She appealed to members, corporate bodies and the community at large for continuous support.
“I believe I can always count on our distinguished members, well-meaning individuals and Corporate bodies to extend their usual moral and financial support to this dispensation to successfully implement the above laudable projects”, she appealed.
In his keynote address, the 58th ICAN President, Mallam Tijani Musa, congratulated and welcomed the new Executive Council and charged members of the association to give them necessary support.
The ICAN President was represented at the investiture by the Deputy President, Mrs Hilda Osure Ozor.
While also charging the new officers to carry members and stakeholders along, Mallam Isa, also called the attention of the new Chairman to the task ahead.
“I charged you and your team on the task ahead of you, but I have no doubt that you will surmount them”, he said
He also charged the new executives to mobilise members to attend the 51st annual ICAN Conference in Abuja later this year.
The outgone 8th ICAN Chairman in Ikorodu, Mr Olusola Akinloye, in his valedictory speech, thanked members for their support.
He rendered the account of his stewardship to members and guests present at the investiture ceremony.
Other members of the executive includes Mr Lateef Awojobi (Vice Chairman), Mr Amodu Tajudeen (General Secretary), Mrs Morenike Onabanjo (Treasurer), Mr Kareem Adegoke (Financial Secretary), Mr Samuel Ayeni (PRO/Social Secretary), Mr Ayinde Samuel (Technical Secretary), Mr Anene Samuel (Assistant General Secretary), Mr Taiwo Famakinwa (Ex – Officio 1), Mrs Olayinka Raji (Ex – Officio) and Mr Olusola Akinloye (immediate past Chairman).
