Rhoda Centre, on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, continued with its medical outreach programme in assisting residents from going blind with free eyes screening, glasses and cataract surgery to correct their eyes defects.
A total of 130 patients were screened by the medical personnel from the Eye Foundation, Ikorodu, on the first day of the 2-day free screening.
The medical outreachprogramme is organized and sponsored by Rhoda Centre in collaboration with the Eye Foundation Hospital, Ikorodu and Relief for Human Suffering Foundation.
At the screening exercise, 18 were detected with cataract cases and would be getting free surgery and 56 were issued glasses.
Other cases detected at the screening, which took place at the Rhoda Centre, Abiodun Ogunleye Street, Solomade, Ikorodu, were presbyopia, allergy, glaucoma, ref error and pterygium.
Mrs Dolapo, one of the beneficiaries of eye glasses, said that she can now see and read better with the free glasses she was given after screening.
“I came to the free eyes screening exercise organised by the Rhoda Centre and after examining me, I was given eye glasses which I am holding. With this glases, I can read very well now”, she said.
“I want to say a big thank you to Rhoda Centre for this opportunity”.
Another beneficiary, Mrs Onalapo who said that she got to know about the free eyes test from her brother, said that the organisers attended to residents very well.
“It was a free test and they attended to us very well and I have been given my own glasses free. Others that their cases are beyond ours were referred to their hospital for further treatments. With this glasses, I can now read very well”, she said.

Mr Emmanuel Onabanjo, who said that he usually have pains in his eyes, told THE IMPACT that after thorough test, he has been referred to the Eye Foundation Hospital for further tests.
Mrs Odetogun Khadijat, who saw the publicity about the free eyes screening and cataract surgery on the social media, said that she was detected to have had cataract and would be operated at the Eye Foundation Hospital, Ikorodu.
“I came for the check-up and it was discovered that I have cataract which would be operated at their hospital. So, I am waiting for them to tell me when I will be coming for the surgery”, she said.
“The exercise is well organised. May God bless Rhoda Foundation and they shall never lack”, she prayed.
The screening continues today at the Rhoda Centre.
