-Drums support for party, Action Alliance
A school teacher, Mr Idowu Olaiwola Adeleke, the candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) for the Ikorodu Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, for the 2023 General Elections, has unveiled his programmes if elected into the 10th Assembly.
Idowu, who is from the Oga Olu Compound in Ikorodu Local Government Area of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, also enjoined electorate in Ikorodu Constituency I to support his party which he said is a good alternative to what they have been used to.
The candidate, speaking about his programmes, said that he would focus on Bills that will improve security in the state; encourage youth development, promote gender equality and embark on investment through entrepreneurship.
“I have a vision for the people of Ikorodu and Lagos State in general; vision that would transform my constituency and the state in all facet of life. If elected as the people’s representative, I will focus on sponsoring various bills and motions that would help achieve this.
“If elected into the House of Assembly, I will sponsor bill and work towards ensuring maximum security of lives and properties irrespective of the parts of the state”, he said.
“I also plan to sponsor bill and motion that will encourage the youths of the state to be self – reliance through a dimension different from the existing ones.
“Other areas that I will also be focusing on are bills and motion for equal gender in politics with an equal proportion and encourage investments in the state through entrepreneurial trainings”, he added.
In his representation capacity, Olaiwola Idowu said that he would ensure that his constituents enjoy dividends of democracy by ensuring that abandoned and decaying projects are brought back to life, especially in the areas of security, social infrastructure etc.
“I will give the people that I will be representing quality representation by making sure that they truly enjoy the dividends of democracy.
“I will also ensure that all the abandoned projects in my constituency are brought back to life, especially in the areas of security, social infrastructure etc.
‘In the area of youth development which I said would be backed by enabling law, I sincerely pledge to create a laudable environment that would enable our youths to be actively engaged and productive, thereby, boosting the Gross Domestic Products in the constituency.
‘’As we all know that education is paramount to me, hence, all children in the constituency will at every session receive free educational materials like writing books in different sizes, pen, mathematical set, etc. I am doing this because I was part of those that enjoyed free educational programmes of our Governor in the early 80s.
“As part of my visionary plans, I will build a modern library equipped with sufficient educational and inspiring reading materials in order to encourage and inculcate the habit of reading in our youths. As a teacher, I will give students free tutorial lectures in preparing them for both SSCE and JAMB examinations.
“As your representative, l will prioritize the welfare of the aged people in the constituency in the areas of health, food supply, etc”.
The AA candidate, who is a member of the country’s football team’s Supporters’ Club, also said that he would use his connections to bring engender sports development.
“My undiluted love for sports, particularly football, will provide opportunity for youths of this constituency to show case their talents while the talented one would be selected through an unbiased sport initiatives and launch them unto global stage where they would have the chance to compete with their peers”, he said.
“I have a good relationship with the President of Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports, who would help in bringing some of our Nigerian footballers, both retired and active very close to our youths as a way of inspiring them to remain focused in their endeavours.
Speaking on his party, Idowu said that he is contesting on a platform that provides alternative for the people and pride in good governance.
“Our party, Action Alliance (AA), is a party that offers our people good and credible alternative to what they have been used to. It is time our people in Ikorodu and in the state generally, start looking beyond the ruling party and other ones for good governance and focus on AA for better representation”, he said.
“What we preach in our own party are freedom, fairness, equality and justice which are bedrocks of democracy and good governance, and these are what we plan to offer our people.
“We have been embarking on membership drive and campaign for Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) registration, and I want to appeal to the good people of Ikorodu to ensure that they register so as to be able to use their cards to vote for a truly and impactful change of government and governance by voting AA”, he appealed.
