-Commends youths’ tenacity
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Ikorodu Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Olamide Olalekan Lawal, has urged Nigerians to ensure that principles upon which the country is based as enshrined in its coat of arm – unity, faith, peace and progress, become realities.
He also charged that the country is at a critical point where actions towards national development matter and not just rhetoric or political statements , while also commending youths in the country for their efforts in bringing about progress.
This was contained in a Democracy Day’s statement on Sunday by the young politician’s campaign team, a copy of which was sent to THE IMPACT.
“This is the time for every Nigerian to ensure that the principles upon which our country was built- unity and faith, peace and progress as mirrored in our national motto, are attained and not just a rhetoric”, the statement said.
“Thumbs up to Nigerian youths; a significant proportion of them are great achievers who are making the country proud.
“They are the pillars of Nigerian democracy and I task them to develop media literacy and digital safety, which is more important than ever as activism and pro-democracy activities are increasingly pushed online, in order to avoid suppression, interference, and the closure of civic space”, Olamide said.
“Democracy creates a conducive atmosphere for the preservation and effective fulfillment of the people”, he added in the statement.
