Idowu Hammed Odunayo, popularly called ‘Collabo’, has protested the results released by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Ikorodu Constituency II primary election, describing it as fake.
PDP had on Thursday, June 9, 2022, released results for the Senatorial, House of Representatives and State House Assembly primary electios.
In the results, copies of which were made available to THE IMPACT, Idowu Odunayo is said to have 6 votes while his opponent, Prince Adewale Isiaka Oyebo, which the party picked as its candidate for the Constituency II Assembly seat, scored 18 votes.
The aspirant, who said that there was no primary election conducted, in a statement released on Thursday, June 9, 2022, a copy of which was also sent to THE IMPACT, said that his team has already petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“For the record, no election happened in Ikorodu Constituency II; everyone was in high spirit to vote ‘COLABO’, however, the State Electoral Officer/Returning Officer, Rt. Hon. David Idoko, wasn’t around to monitor the process. Please, come outside and defend this because l am not going to accept it”, he said.
“A lot of you have spoken about the disappointment witnessed during the poll, it does not, in any way, represent what our party stands for; from the annihilation of voters to the cajolement of candidates.
“My team has written a heavy worded letter to INEC as we may end up having two candidates as no election took place in Ikorodu Constituency II.
“They should please be warned to desist from spreading this fake result and engaging in this fake lap of victory. We will not sit and watch them turn our great party into a collection of failures.
“We will use every legal means to have a re – run of this void election”.
Odunayo, who said that he collected the nomination form for N700, 000 and also paid another N50, 000 for screening, in his statement, also posed questions to the Returning Officer and his party.
“Hence, I have a few questions to ask our ghost Electoral Officer, Rt Hon David Idoko.
“Kindly remember that #700,000 was invested into the purchase of the form, and I further paid #50,000 for screening”, he said.
“Kindly tell me how you came across the “fake” scores you are spreading outside.
“How come my agent didn’t sign your “fake” result?
“Which venue did you conduct your election, because I still have the video clips with me when they decided to scatter the election process”.
He added that there was no winner or loser since there was no election.
“We have no winner or loser in Ikorodu Constituency II because no election took place.
“The good people and ad-hoc witnessed all of these, hence, I do not know where this fake result is coming from – a case where a country celebrates an Olympic medal without participating in the sport”, he said.
