Ikorodu Peace Initiative Endows Education With N20Million

In its efforts to further support youths and make them productive for positive developments in Ikorodu Division area of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited/Guarantee (IDPIL/GTE), has endowed education with N20million naira.

The endowment is expected to provide educational support in form of Upgrading of Schools, Bursary and Scholarship to students in Ikorodu Division.

The group which was launched and unveiled few months back with focus on four critical interventions of development namely: Security, Education, Health, Environment and Roads Rehabilitation (SEHER), has been focusing on Security which is the platform upon which other developments thrive and also has unveiled a security architecture known as Joint Local Security Task Force.

According to a statement on Saturday (yesterday), which was sent to THE IMPACT, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, the Executive Secretary, IDPIL/GTE, said that the fund has been paid into the endowment account by the Chairman of the IDPIL/GTE and Chairman, MultiChoice Nigeria, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, the Odofin of Ikorodu.

“Education, being also a catalyst and a veritable prong for transformative development or agenda, it is time we begin to make inroads into Education just as we have positively impacted on Security.

“However, our intervention in education will be on two fronts, that is, School Upgrade and Scholarship .

“It is, therefore, heart – warming to inform members that as a prelude to our intervention in Education, our Chairman has approved the Institution of IDPIL N20,000,000 Million Annual Education Endowment Fund for the provision of scholarship and Bursary respectively, to students in Higher Institutions. I am also to inform that the money for the programme has been released by our generous Chairman, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya”, the statement said.

The statement also revealed that a standing committee will soon be made public as well as the modalities and structures for the award and disbursements of the fund to beneficiaries.

He charged the committee to work towards August date for the first set of beneficiaries of the endowment.

“As you are aware, there is a subsisting Ad -hoc committee on Education and Schools’ Development headed by Hon Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, consequently, this committee will be saddled with the responsibility of putting in place management structure and guidelines for benefitting scholars and indigent students in Higher Institutions.

“It is to be noted that in no distant date, Secondary school students will also benefit from this human capital development efforts”. the the IDPIL.

“The committee is enjoined to immediately swing into action and ensure that the names of the first beneficiaries are announced on or before 15th August 2022.

“Terms of reference to the Ad hoc committee will be released shortly.

Otunba Abiru on behalf of the IDPIL/GTE also thanked the body’s chairman for his contributions to the development of Ikorodu.

“While congratulating members of the committee, may I on behalf of all members thank our Chairman for all that he is doing for humanity. I pray that his destiny will continue to bless him with a brighter future.

In the same vein, the IDPIL/GTE Executive Secretary also thanked stakeholders for their attendance and contributions at the recent security meeting at the Ikorodu Town Hall.
