The founder of the RHODA Centre, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, addressing senior citizens at the event, said that the intention of the organisers was to take the food items to them in their various houses
He added that they decided to gathered them so as also to talk about ways that they should live at old age and what they should be eating.
“Aside distribution of food items to show our support for you, it is also important to fraternize and share ideas on how to live at old age, what to eat and what you should be doing”, he said.
He also said that the Centre and its partner will also be caring for any old citizen with cataract by giving them necessary treatments and surgery which the RHODA Centre has been embarking on to stop eyes problem in the community.
“As an organization, aside providing food items to senior citizens and others, we also care for those with cataract in the community as we see this as our duty to assist Ikorodu community in getting rid of the disease and prevent blindness”, Erogbogbo said.
“We have assisted many students with eyes problems, in conjunction with Eyes Foundation. There are also many residents that we conducted screenings for and treated for cataract and they are now in good conditions.
“This is what we are also going to be extending to you since we have your contacts and other details.
“There are also other programmes that we are also involved which we are also going to be calling you for”, he said.
Many of the old men and women in attendance, in their remarks, thanked the RHODA Centre for the gesture.
