Today Marks exactly a year that Mr Rotimi Akeem Erogbogbo led Executive Council of the Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS) was elected and sworn – in and since then, it has been an eventful and momentous 12 months.
The body which is a socio – cultural and developmental organisation has under it over 300 clubs, societies and groups and saddled with the responsibilities of organising the annual Ikorodu – Oga Day Carnival, a state government recognised event which its 30th edition was celebrated in 2021.
Erogbogbo who came on board through popular decision promised that his administration’s will focus on, “Changing the Narratives”.
He also pledged to make the cultural body engage in different events with socio – economic impacts instead of focusing solely on the annual Ikorodu- Oga Carnival.
The Chairman who retired as Director with the Lagos State Government has not only changed the narrative and made the organisation more active through activities with far – reaching economic and social impacts on the people.
The central focus of the administration has been youth development, education and with other areas also touched. The current IKODASS administration has also focused on giving affiliated bodies more sense of participation by not only engaging them in the activities of the association but also embarking on visitation to them during their meetings, an exercise which is still ongoing.
For sustenance and improvement on the activities of IKODASS and initiating new ones like age group sporting activities which has made IKODASS darling of parents, young school students with interest in indoor games and schools, local food festival competition which three schools that emerged winners were treated to academic tour of Abeokuta, and educational initiatives among others, administration has received commendations from royal fathers, past IKODASS Chairmen and other stakeholders in the community.
