An aspirant for the Ikorodu Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Comrade Samson Bisiriyu, has been presented with the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination and expression of interest forms.
The presentation of the forms at the Fun City, Ikorodu on Sunday, May 8, 2022, proved that the Convener of the #Not TooYoungToRun and Executive Director, Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative (IDYI), is also a serious contender among about 30 aspirants jostling for the seat.
Mr Godwin OlaOluwa Oke, an Economist and Political analyst and Prince Kareem, on behalf of close allies and associates of the Bisiriyu, presented the forms to him.
Friends of the aspirants who have been engaging in community and youth development activities, intervened by contributing money towards the procurement of his forms as part of their support to his political aspiration.
Godwin, presenting the forms, said that the aspirant is full of ideas in developing the society and that he’s worthy to be supported.
He said that the friends and associates of Comrade Bisiriyu are supporting him by contributing money to purchase his forms and presented same to him.
“Samson has been a very dedicated friend for years. Many of us who had grew up together with him knew ourselves back then. Over the years, we had seen how impactful we all could be to the society, particularly as we all contribute our own quota to the development of our society. Samson is one of those who is always coming to the table with ideas and ways of solving societal problems, especially as it affects the youths”, Oke Godwin said.
“In Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative (IDYI), Samson was one of those who is always at the forefront, coming up with ideas and ways to solve some of the challenges and we believe that, this is just our own little way of supporting him in a real life political situations”.
He said that Samson, with his desire to bring about youth and general community developments, will perform when given the opportunity to represent Ikorodu people.
“This is the way friends and associates could associate with one of us. Nigerian politics is beyond social media talk but taking active participation, to go out there and show support for Prince Samson Bisiriyu”, he charged.
“We believe that with his pedigree and antecedents in youth development as a private citizen who is poised to seeing youth being emancipated for good and financially independent, he would do more when he clinches on the political power.
“He can do more as a public office holder and we are willing to support him with our resources to achieve this aim for him.”
While urging the people to support Samson, Godwin stressed that he’s the man of the people who knows the challenges of the people and can solve it when he gets to office.
“The problems in the constituency are obvious. Samson is the one to solve these problems. He is a dependable and ethical person who keeps his words. Without being there, he has been doing a lot of things for the constituency”, Godwin said.
Accepting the forms, Comrade Samson said that he was surprised and humbled by the gesture extended to him by his friends.
“I am humble and at the same time so surprised and also very happy for this show of love. This is just a gesture, I wasn’t even expecting it. I was not even contemplating it, but it came to me as one of the greatest surprises of my life”, he said.
“I have no choice but to answer the call of those who knew me from my younger days and those with whom l went to the same secondary schools together. Therefore, the friendship is over twenty-five years. I can tell you that they know me from the cradle.
“When we were all nothing and that is best of friendship and for them to have believed in me and able to put this up for me, I am very grateful to them”, he said thankfully.
He said that his aspiration is for the youths and community and about creating opportunities.
“My aspiration for the youths in our constituency is a collective representation. I will want a situation whereby, we would have stakeholders and town hall meetings every quarter where we meet with the people, know what their needs are and ensure that they are met through community engagement, if I emerge as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the primaries and eventually wins the election at the general polls”, he assured.
Present at the event were family members, friends, business partners and associates of Comrade Samson Bisiriyu.
