The Nigerian Bar Association Ikorodu Branch has unfolded a week – long 2022 Annual Law Week programme which commences on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
The Law Week which will be kicked – off with a press conference at the branch’s Bar Centre, beside the Lagos State Civil Service Club, Ikorodu, off TOS Benson Avenue, Ikorodu and ends on the 17th of May 2022 with an interactive Law Dinner.
Immediately after the press conference, there will be, ‘Walk Against Domestic and Gender Violence’ by members of the association.
According to the Chairman of the 2022 Law Week Committee and Former Lagos State Honourable Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, the theme of the conference is, “Nation Building: Our Collective Responsibility”
Other sessions lined up for the Law Week are Law Reform Roundtable, Continuing Legal Education (CLE), Health Talk, Jummat Service/Legal Aid at Ansar – Ud – Deen Mosque Ikorodu and Thanksgiving Service/Legal Aid at the Anglican Church, Ireshe Road, Ikorodu.
The star programme of the week is the 15th Asiwaju Babatunde Olusola Benson Annual Public Lecture slated for Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the Ikorodu Town Hall.
The lecture with the topic, “Lawyers, Administration of Justice and the Imperative of Credible Elections in 2023 for Nigeria’s Political and Economic Stability will be delivered by the Chairman Senate Committee on the Media and former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Osun State, Senator (Dr.) Surajudeen Ajibola Bashir.
The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi is the Royal Father of the day.
Also expected at the lecture is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Industry representing the Lagos East Senatorial District Senator Tokunbo Abiru who is the Special Guest of Honour.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Rep. Babajimi Benson is the Chairman of the Law Dinner.
