Serious contenders on the platform of the All Progressives Congess (APC), have started emerging for the Ikorodu Constituency I and II seats in the Lagos State House of Assembly, as about 7 aspirants have so far picked nomination forms.
About 20 aspirants are vying for the Assembly seat in Ikorodu Constituency I on the APC platform, while 10 are in the race in Constituency II.
THE IMPACT gathered that the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly who is representing the Ikorodu Constituency I,Hon. Sanai Agunbiade and his counterpart in the Constituency Il, Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, on Thursday, April 29, picked their nomination forms.
While the announcement regarding Solaja’s picking of the nomination form was revealed on the social media on Thursday’s night.
It was gathered that the four term lawmaker picked his form without any funfair.
THE IMPACT, however, gathered that the collection of the form by Hon. Solaja was made public to prove that he is still going ahead to contest for the third term despite threats from some sections of the Ikorodu Constituency II, that he cannot run again based on the rotational arrangement.
Solaja’s photograph posing with his form with the State Secretary of the APC, Hon. Sunmi Odesanya, who is also from Ikorodu and former Assembly member, was circulated across the platform last night.
On the same day, Mr Gbolahan Ogunleye, son of the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and chieftain of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), was also reported to have collected the nomination form.
It was gathered that many party chieftains followed him to the APC State Secretariat at ACME, Ogba, Lagos, to pick the form.
Gbolahan’s photograph where he posed his form with Hon. Sunmi, was also circulated yesterday by some blogs.
Mr Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan, the Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission who also vied for the position in 2019, joined the league of those that have collected the form, on Friday.
Bolowotan made the announcement regarding his collection of the form on his social media handle,by posting a photograph where he posed with his nomination and consent forms.
Also confirmed to have obtained the nomination form in Ikorodu Constituency II, is Mr Oluwatosin Onamade, who is vying for the controversial Ikorodu Constituency II Assembly seat.
Some of the younger aspirants also proved that they meant business with their aspiration and are not just circulating e – posters.
First, it was Mr Babawale Bisiriyu Alogba, that announced on the social media that he has also collected his own nomination form.
Like others, Alogba also circulated his photograph with the State APC Secretary to prove to his supporters and generality of Ikorodu residents that he meant business.
Also announcing that he has picked his own form, Mr Isikalu Bolaji Olanrewaju (IBO), in a release late afternoon today, on his social media handles, announced that he has taken another bold step by collecting the nomination form.
The statement was accompanied with a photograph where he was seen posing with the forms with Hon. Sunmi in his office at the party’s Secretariat.
“Today, I took another bold step towards the actualization of our SHIFT 2023 AGENDA by visiting our Party Secretariat at Ikeja, to obtain my party’s Nomination and Expression of Interest forms”, Isikalu said in the statement.
“I also used the opportunity to visit my leader who is the State Secretary of our great party, Hon. Sunmi Odesanya, to engage him on our SHIFT 2023 AGENDA.
“We had a fruitful discussion and mutual engagement.
“With this done, I have once again demonstrated that the SHIFT AGENDA is not just a mantra but a commitment to birth a new Ikorodu Constituency 1 come 2023”, Isikalu added.
“The SHIFT Agenda is a collective agenda. Join us to SHIFT IKORODU FORWARD!”, the young aspirant said.
