It was a rousing welcome for a leading aspirant for the Ikorodu Constituency II seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), as he visited the Isokan political group in Igbogbo.
The aspirant visited the group during their monthly meeting held at Solawon’s house along the Igbogbo/Offin/Oreta Road, Igbogbo, on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.
At the meeting, which had large turnout of Isokan members, Aroyewun, who was a foundation member of the group, was assured the maximum support of the group towards emerging the preferred candidate of the party for the much coveted seat.
In attendance at the meeting were chieftains of the group such as Hon. Hakeem Solawon (Councillor, Ward C2), the Chairman of the Isokan Group, Basirat Banjoko (Deputy Leader, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA and Councillor, Ward C1), Hon. Adewale Bolowotan (Supervisor for Civic Engagement and Special Duty), Hon. Iyabo Salisu (former supervisor for Agric and WAPA), Hon. Dauda Oshinlaja (Supervisor for Environment and Waste management), Hon. Lateef Odusanya (Supervisor for Strategy, Information Technology, and Budget) amongst others.
The occasion presented members of the group to interact with the aspirant on his plans for the group, party and the constituency at large.
Mr. Adewale Bolowotan, Supervisor for Civic Engagement and Special Duty, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, while addressing the meeting, stated that the aspirant is a strong member of the group, adding that his campaign has been very massive.
“HOA is a core party man. He is a strong member of Isokan group”, Bolowotan said
“I really love three things about HOA campaign structure, which are the name HOA4HOA, his lineage across the three LCDAs, and the technocrats in his campaign team. These are clear evidences that Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun knows what this constituency needs, and he is ready to deliver those things”, he added.
Speaking at the parley, Aroyewun extoled the virtues of Bldr. Olusesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, for giving the youths the courage and boldness to contest for elective positions.
“Bldr. Olusesan Daini is a trailblazer and also a bridge builder”, he said.
The aspirant, while acknowledging and commending the Isokan group for their impacts in the political development of the council, reassured them that he would deliver on his promises when elected to represent the constituency come 2023.
He added that his promises to give quality, accessible, all-encompassing and impactful representation to the entire Ikorodu Constituency II, would not be compromised.
“I am a trained party man and I know the importance of party men and women as well as the young and old. I have uncompromising welfare packages for the party people and the entire Constituency II at large. I wish for every woman in our Constituency to be happy the same way I wish my mother to be”, he said while responding to questions by members of the Isokan group.
“It is expedient to inform this meeting that we have put in place a special research and strategy committee that has collated necessary and appropriate information on the needs of our society. These we are going to look into when I am elected and fully implemented. I will not let you down. This is my word for you all”, he assured.
Aroyewun affirmed that he is a founding member of the Isokan group, a statement that drew loud cheers and shout of “HOA4HOA”, from the gathering.
Many of the members of the group at the meeting said that they are tired of excuses and assured the aspirant of their full support.
Gbenga Oduniyi, chieftain of the HOA4HOA team, while speaking to THE IMPACT after the meeting, described the parley as fruitful and reassured the team that they are on the right track.
“The situation here today is welcoming beyond our expectations. We are delighted to be here today. Our acceptance here today was massive, and we duly appreciate the leadership of this group “, Oduniyi said.
“It is quite reassuring that our party and the generality of our people are in support of the HOA4HOA agenda. This is just the beginning of our open visitations after countless numbers of moves to various stakeholders and groups across the Ikorodu Constituency II and even extended beyond it”.
