-Unveils legislative, representative agenda
Mr Ogbe Ayoyinka Adebola, a legislative officer popularly called ‘Jiduah’, has declared his intention to run for the Ikorodu Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The aspirant, who has worked in various capacities and areas of the lawmaking process since joining the Lagos State House of Assembly Commission, said that he wants to use his experience and knowledge to improve the lawmaking process and give Ikorodu back its place of pride among in the comity of Divisions in the state.
Yinka, who is the son of highly revered late Pa (Barr) Ifalabake Ogbe, former Head of the Odujomu Araba branch of the Lasunwon Ruling House of Ikorodu, is a graduate of History Education from the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Lagos.
He proceeded to the London Metropolitan University, Holloway, United Kingdom, where he bagged his Masters of Arts (International Relations & Interdisciplinary Programmes).
The aspirant is currently in the service of the Lagos State House of Assembly Commission.
THE IMPACT gathered that the young aspirant has been working underground for a while consulting stakeholders on his aspiration.
He is an active member in the Bills unit of Legislative Matters Directorate. The unit was saddled with keeping bills passed into laws and handling executives briefing among others.
He is presently the Assistant Secretary, Committee on Health Service, Committee on House Services and Committee on lnformation Strategy and Security of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
He was an assistant secretary under Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, the incumbent representative of the Ikorodu Constituency I and the Majority Leader of the Lagos Assembly, when he was the Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Public Petitions.
He has also served as a Co- opted Assistant Secretary on Budget Planning and Appropriation Committee and assistant secretary to some ad-hoc committees.
He served as one of the Front Desk officers of the State House of Assembly .
On his agenda for his constituents, Yinka said that his primary duty as a legislator is lawmaking and that he will focus on legislative improvement.
“We will ensure legislative improvement by reviewing existing laws, especially those that are obsolete and bring them in tune with the present realities”.
The aspirant also said that he will focus on the development of Ikorodu.
“My agenda will focus on developing Ikorodu by facilitating its improvement in terms of infrastructural, economic and social cum political developments”, he said.
“I will work towards giving Ikorodu its place of pride and also ensure that it takes its rightful place among the IBILE”.
He also said that youth development will also form part of its cardinal point.
“We will ensure that youths are brought on board by nurturing them and encouraging entrepreneurship among them.
“Tourism development is another area that we are going to explore. Our aim will be to sponsor laws that will encourage development of the sector by bringing about more participation”, he said.
“It will be source of revenue for the government and leisure and employment for the people.
“We can also create more employment for the youth in this area”.
While expressing his concern about the traffic situation in the state, Yinka said:
“We are also going to look into how the government will make commuting within the state seamless by ensuring effective management of traffic to enable people spend less hours in transporting themselves from one point to the other which will help the development of commerce”, he said.
