The Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Wasiu Adekunle Agoro has charged the newly sworn-in Secretary to the Council and other cabinet members to discharge their responsibilities very well to the party and the Council in general.
He said that he will not hesitate to remove any one of them found wanting.
Mr Ramoni Akinyemi, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Imota LCDA, also gave similar charge to the new cabinet members.
Agoro gave the charge and warning at the swearing in ceremony of the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) and nine other new cabinet members.
Mr Muhammed Hakeem Fagbesan was sworn in as the Secretary to the Imota LCDA, while the Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Sunday Benson, added the Supervisory Councilor for Environment to his portfolio.
Other Supervisory Councilors and their portfolios are: Mrs Bisoye Omowunmi Jimoh (Works & Infrastructures), Mr Hassan Anjorin (Education & Library Services), Mr Ayodele Abass (Budget & Revenue Generation), Mr Olufemi Okedeyi (Youths & Sports), Mr Musediku Odumosu (Special Duties & Political Matters), Mr Olugbenga Nosiru Akinsanya (Agric & Rural Development) and Mrs Saidat Olawale (Women Affairs & Poverty Alleviation).
The portfolio of the Special Adviser on Health was given to Mr Adebola Lateef.
Hon. Agoro, in his speech, commended party leaders for the way the nomination was handled without rancour.
While congratulating the appointees, Agoro also appealed to those that did not make the list to patiently wait for their own time.
“I thank the apex leaders of Imota LCDA for the wisdom and painstaking exercise in appointing those that we are swearing in today. They have done a very great job and I thank God for what they have been able to do”, Hon. Agoro said.
“In the history of Imota LCDA, we have never had it so good that leaders decided and did the job regarding the nomination of the cabinet members, sent the names from the division to the state and the names were never tampered with.
“I also want to congratulate those that were appointed today and thank those that didn’t make the list. I appeal to them that they are going to get their own turn very soon”.
He charged the newly sworn in cabinet members to discharge their duties responsibly, adding that he will not hesitate to remove any one among them for under performance.
“It is expected of you to do your job diligently and responsibly. This is not an appointment that you will be coming to office anytime or whenever that you want. I will not hesitate to remove any cabinet member found wanting and report such to the party leaders.
“Anyone removed will not be allowed to come back to the council”, he warned.
He described his newly constituted cabinet as one made up of experienced and seasoned politicians who will have no excuse not to succeed.
“To God be the glory, we are having the best set of people as members of the cabinet and I am not expecting anything less from them because they are men and women of high integrity”, Hon. Agoro told THE IMPACT.
“They had served in various capacities before now and they are having another opportunity because of their performance. That is the reason we gave them another opportunity to finish what we started in 2017.
“I believe that it’s going to be a successful tenure”, he assured.
The Council Chairman also charged the new members of the executives to ensure that they work in line with the oath of office and allegiance that they swore by not disclosing the information that they come across to others while they are serving.
The party chairman, Mr Akinyemi also charged the new appointees to work towards developing the party, council and the entire people of Imota.
He also appealed to them to work in unity with the Council Chairman in ensuring smooth running of the administration.
Mr Muhammed Hakeem Fagbesan, the new SLG, responding on behalf of other new cabinet members, said that their appointment is a privilege that they will deliver on, responsibly.
“It is a privilege that we are being given the opportunity to represent and move the council forward and we promise to deliver our responsibilities diligently”, he said.
“We are going to ensure that we contribute our quota to the development of Imota and strictly follow the directive of the chairman”, he assured.
Before the appointees were sworn-in, they appeared before the Imota LCDA’s Legislative Arm presided over by Hon. Babatunde A. Oredoyin, the Council Leader, for screening and approval.
At the event were Mr Fatai O. Lasisi, former Special Adviser to the Governor and APC leader in Imota, Col. Titi Onafowokan, a party leader, Hon. Mrs Yisa, former Vice Chairman, Imota LCDA, Mr Yommy Shopitan, Executive Assistant to the Governor on Maritime Matters among others.
