A chieftain and one of the major financiers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ikorodu Division, Mr Aro Moshood Abiodun, popularly known and called ‘AMA’ by supporters and admirers, has joined the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
THE IMPACT can authoritatively report that the businessman cum politician is perfecting plans to publicly declare his crossing to APC.
Aro confirmed the change of party to THE IMPACT when our reporter spoke with him at the weekend.
He said that he will be using the platform of his new party to continue his developmental politics and engagements.
AMA, who registered as an APC member during the last registering exercises of his new party in 2021, will be joining his supporters who are already in APC.
The popularly politician who did not confirm if he would be contesting for the Ikorodu Constituency II seat on the APC ticket, also told out reporter that he will be mobilising to ensure that Ijede Local Council Development Area produces the next Assembly representative in Ikorodu Constituency II.
“Yes, I am now in the APC. I am a registered member. I already have my people in the party and I feel it’s time to join them and play progressive politics”, he said.
“Though, we have been consulting people that matters in lkorodu, Lagos and Abuja, but we are still consulting others. It’s a continuous thing.
When asked if he would be declaring for the Assembly seat, AMA said:
“Our major mission is to ensure that Ijede man emerged as the next representative of the Ikorodu Constituency II come 2023. we also want to use the platform to bring about good governance to our people across the Ikorodu Constituency II.
“This has been our focus and what we have been clamouring and working for before now.
“It is the turn of Ijede and we want every stakeholder to respect this and honour the agreement that we honored after serving our own terms between 1999 and 2007.
“That is my interest and Ijede comes first before anybody or interest”, he added.
Aro Moshood Abiodun was the candidate of the PDP in Ikorodu Constituency II in the last General elections and he gave APC stiff opposition with his massive mobilisation and integrated campaign that shook the constituency.
In the last two months, there has been serious pressure on him to declare for the Ikorodu Constituency II seat on the PDP platform but unknown to many he has severed his ties with the party.
