A chieftain of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), has called for unity amongst Ijede people if they are going to take their turn to occupy the lkorodu Constituency ll Assembly seat in the next dispensation.
He made the call while addressing a crowd of residents and guests which included the Regent and Olisa of Ijede, High Chief Alliu and other traditional chiefs as well as religious leaders, Community Development chieftains, party members and youths, at the ljede residence of Hon. Fathiu Salisu, the immediate past Chairman of ljede Local Council Development Area, during a special prayer held to mark his birthday celebration on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
Mr Aro emphasised that it will be a shame if Ijede loses out in the race for the Assembly seat.
“I want everyone here to know that it will be a shame on us if Ijede fails to get the House of Assembly seat in the next dispensation”, Mr Aro stated.
“We must work in unity and not allow enmity to deprive us the seat.
“Let us pull our power together and do everything that we must do to ensure that Ijede gets the Assembly seat”.
Aro, whom we gathered is being pressurised is to again declare for the seat on the platform of the PDP, added that Imota is witnessing great developments because they have the person representing the Ikorodu Constituency II in the House of Assembly.
“I am not saying that I should be picked because I am yet to declare but we must rally round to ensure that we get it”, he said.
“In the last eight years, there has been tremendous development in Imota and that happened because one of them is in the Assembly. The same development will come to Ijede when we too are there.
“We are not satisfied with the way Ijede is today”, he added.
The Coordinator of the Ijede/Egbin Youth Forum also spoke in the same vein.
He called on traditional and political leaders to ensure that the opportunity does not elude the community.
