The Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Sen. Adetokunbo Mikhail Abiru, FCA, has said that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has necessary qualities to manage the country.
He said that Tinubu, who is aspiring to lead the country, has the capacity to manage the complex nature of Nigeria and effectively harness the human and material resources to place the country on the path to greatness.
Abiru made his view known during a press conference on his account of stewardship in the last 14 months as a Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, at his constituency office in Ikorodu, on Saturday, March 19, 2022.
The bank executive turned politician who identified two qualities that the next President of Nigeria must possess, stated that Asiwaju Tinubu has both and categorically declared that he will be his choice anytime and any day.
“We have in Nigeria today talents; people who have excelled in one way or the other, but because I came with experience from the corporate world and also, because I have the privilege of being part of the political class and I am operating at the highest level of the political leader in this country, I have reasonably seen what I believe.
“A lot of people have shown interest to become the next president and more are still coming and if you ask me, they all have the right to aspire for the one seat but what I have seen based on my experience from the corporate world, there are two qualities that such a man must have.
“These have consistently engaged my mind, number one, that person must understands the complexities of Nigeria; the religious and heterogeneous nature of our being as Nigerians and other related matters. We are looking at all the security issues. We need someone that understands the complexity and that can manage it”, he said.
“Equally, because of my experience in the corporate world as well and what I have witnessed, regarding the budget circle at the federal level, I also believe that this country has all the resources and wherewithal to also achieve greatness, so, we need somebody that can harness those resources in order for us to achieve the greatness”, he added.
“When I talk about resources, I also mean that people are complaining that we had a period of high oil windfall and what did we do with it? The current government has come into being, but there is paucity of funds, they have struggled through borrowings in order to create critical infrastructures like the rails and other things and people are complaining about excessive borrowings.
“For me, we need people who can balance this, optimize the opportunities that we have without borrowing, and reduce the cost of bureaucracy in order for the country to move and reset it.
“If you ask, my honest truth is that I think that our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has those qualities and will be my number one choice for the position any day”, Sen. Abiru declared.
