The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, on Thursday, March 10, 2022, commissioned the 480-seater capacity Ita – Elewa Sports Centre, which was completed months back.
The governor was joined by his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Millennium Development Goals (MDG), Her Excellency, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire and the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson who is the facilitator of the project.
Sanwo – Olu also commissioned the Ita – Elewa Youth Centre, which was a renovated structure within the same premises with the sporting facilities facilitated through the Office of the MDGs.
At the commissioning of the mini – stadia, the governor, who defied the loud of shout of ‘JB’ by the supporters of Rep. Benson, scored a ceremonial spot – kick against Rep Benson who was at the goal post, after receiving a pass from Mrs Adefulire and his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat.
Facilities at the mini – stadium facilitated by Rep. Benson who is the Chairman, House Committee on Defense, are 5 – Aside football pitch, Basket court, 8 offices/indoor games room, toilets, borehole water and a security house.
While commissioning the renovated youth centre, Sanwo – Olu said that the facility is another promise delivered to engage the youths.
“This is for you. This is about what we preach. It is an avenue for you to engage yourself positively”, Gov. Sanwo – Olu said.
He charged the representatives of youths, led by the State Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Olalekan Biliamin Oba and his executives, to encourage youths to positive endeavors.
Mr Segun Dawodu, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development in the State, speaking earlier, said that the youth centre, commissioned by the Governor, has table tennis and snooker tables, ICT centre, gym, counselling centre among others.
He thanked the governor for providing facilities for the youths across the state.
