The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), formerly known as the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), has received the right to host the 31st International Inter – Tertiary Multi – Disciplinary Conference on Science, Technology, Education, Arts, Management and the Social Science (ISTEAM).
The conference, which has been slated to hold at the LASUSTECH Ikorodu main campus, will come up between April, 11th – 13th, 2022, in collaboration with the Advanced Research Techniques (SMART), Africa.
A statement signed by Mr Lanre K. Kuye, Director, Information and Public Relations, LASUSTECH, stated that the hosting became possible following a visit by Professor Olumide Longe, a Professor at the Academic City University College, Accra, Ghana, to the Rector, Lagos State Polytechnic, Dr. Oluremi Nurudeen Olaleye, on February 16, 2022.
According to the statement, Professor Longe, who observed that LASUSTECH has the most convenient learning environment befitting for meeting of academics to ruminate and discuss over advancement issues, said that the institution has been considered to host the 2022 international conference billed for April 11 to 13, 2022.
In his words, “The serenity of Lagos State Polytechnic campus is best for academic activities, making it the most suitable for the proposed April iSTEAM conference”, Prof Longe said.
The distinguished Professor of the Academic City University College, Accra, Ghana, who led a delegation to the institution, also stated that the collaboration with LASUSTECH is perfect and timely due to the fact that the institution (which was formerly a Polytechnic) has just successfully transmuted into a University of Science and Technology.
He added that this transition plays a significant role in the advancement of societal growth, especially in Nigeria and Africa at large.
Professor Longe also noted that this conference would put LASUSTECH on the academic almanac as a foremost University of Science and Technology in Africa.
He revealed that the Rector of the institution will be awarded with the Fellowship Award of iSTEAM at the conference.
The Rector of LASUSTECH, Dr. Oluremi Nurudeen Olaleye, appreciated the iSTEAM committee for choosing his institution for hosting such an important conference and promised to give full support to it.
Also at the meeting were Principal officers of LASUSTECH among whom were Dean of School of Management and Business Studies, Mr. Dare Fasheiku; the Director of Human Capacity and Development, Dr. Ibraheem Akosile; Dr. Abiola Lawal of Banking and Finance Department; Mrs. Akinkugbe of the sGeneral Studies Department and Mrs. Damisola Adewunmi of the Office Technology and Management Department.
