The Chairman of the Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, on Monday, February 14, 2022, commended the Lagos State Government for the continuous upgrading of the Rehabilitation Centre at Owutu.
Erogbogbo, who visited the centre with members of the executive council of the cultural and developmental group, to donate food, toiletries and clothing items to the inmates of the centre, said that he has consistently been seeing improvement in the structural and organizational system of the centre.
IKODASS donated a bag of rice, a bag of beans, packs of indomie noddles, bags of semovita, packs of detergent and clothes during the visit in commemoration of the 2022 Valentine’s Day.
IKODASS Chairman said that the visitation, which was started by his predecessor, would be an annual event by the association.
“On behalf of the executive committee of IKODASS and all the clubs, associations and societies in Ikorodu that are affiliated to the body, we want to thank the Lagos State Government for its continuous intervention in the development of this centre”, he said.
“I have always seen improvement each time I visit this facility.
“We also want to thank the staff of the centre that are taking care of the inmates. We pray and hope that they will be ready to be reintegrated back into the society and reunite with their families and loved ones from time – to – time.
“This our visit is to show love in the spirit of today and let the people here know that we love them. This will be an annual even by our association and more importantly, we are going to encourage all the associations and societies that are affiliated to IKODASS to also visit”, he said.
The IKODASS General Secretary, Mr Seun Elesho, speaking earlier, said that the donations made to the centre by the association were parts of its efforts in giving back to the society.
“We were here last year on Valentine’s Day to donate to the centre as part of our commitment to give back to the society”, he said.
“It was another chairman that we came with this time last year and today, we have a new chairman who is also interested in giving back.
“As we can see, there is a lot of improvement to what we met last year.
“This is our own way of assisting the government and ourselves because it is possible that we also have family members here too”, he said.
Mr Olanrewaju, who attended to the IKODASS team on behalf of the centre, thanked the association for its continuous visit and donations to the centre.
“On behalf of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, the Commissioner and Permanent Secretary, I thank IKODASS for the visit and donations”, he said.
“We really appreciate your organization and others that have been coming around to support and donate. Government alone cannot do it”, he added.
