Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwo – Olu, Friday, February 11, 2022, announced Dr. Oluremi Nurudeen Olaleye as the acting Vice Chancellor for the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUST) which was formerly known as Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH).
Dr Olaleye was the Rector of the erstwhile LASPOTECH until Friday when the announcement was made.
The new University was established alongside the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) and both were given certificates of operation by the National Universities Commission (NUC), earlier this week.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Director, Information and Public Relations, LASPOTECH, Mr Lanre Kuye, adding that Dr Olaleye made the announcement while addressing members of staff at a Town hall meeting held at the School of Agriculture Auditorium, Ikorodu Campus.
The statement also said that the new acting VC, expressed his profound gratitude to the Governor for appointing him in that capacity.
He also expressed gratitude to the Special Adviser on Education to the Governor, Mr. Tokunbo Philip Wahab and the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, for their efforts geared towards the successful transmutation of the citadel of learning.
While conveying the message of Mr. Governor to the members of staff, Olaleye noted that the Governor emphatically stated that no staff will lose his or her job due to the transmutation.
He informed all staff that the transmutation involves challenge which demands that they should be more dutiful as the university status requires more efficiency and proficiency in service delivery.
