-Residents commend initiative
As part of his representation duties, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Defense, has made registration and replacement of the Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) easier for the people in his constituency initiating a registration and revalidation exercise across lkorodu division.
The exercise, which started on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has been witnessing large turnout of residents.
The lawmaker’s team leading the exercise, was also in Ijede LCDA on Sunday, January 22, where residents were attended to at the council secretariat and Abule Eko Town Hall.
Many residents in Ikorodu division are still facing challenges in registering or replacing their lost PVCs among other challenges despite the campaign launched by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the process is seamless for electorates.
In the campaign embarked upon by the iCare Foundation, the working team of Hon. Benson, residents were provided with the opportunity of pre – registration for PVC, transfer of their PVC, update/correction of information supplied for their PVC registration, replacement of PVC as well as voters’ sensitization.
Meanwhile, Hon. Benson, in a statement issued at the weekend to announce the commencement of the intervention exercise, said that the exercise will cater for residents that are yet to register for PVC and those who have issues with their card.
“My iCare Foundation will, from January 22 to February 6, 2022, be providing computers, internet access and human resources at designated centres across Ikorodu Federal Constituency to assist eligible voters, especially those who have no ICT access or find it difficult to pre-register on INEC portal via (https://cvr.inecnigeria.org)”, he said.
“The exercise will also cater for those who have lost their cards, changed address, and those who just turned 18 years, etc.
“We look forward to receiving you as you actively participate in this exercise. Your PVC, Your Right”, Hon. Benson said in the statement.
