As part of its cardinal principles, one of which is the concern for Maternal and Child Health, Rotaract Club of Ikorodu Golden visited the General Hospital, Ikorodu, where its members donated various gift items to the First Baby in 2022.
The social and humanitarian group also presented gift items to the second baby born in the new year and others in the Maternity ward of the medical facility during their visit on Saturday, January 1, 2022.
The group partnered with Mr Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun, a grassroots mobiliser and Deputy President/Director of Programmes, Development Vanguard, in donating the items to new born babies.
Rotaractor Ogunbanwo Damilola, President, Rotaract Club of lkorodu Golden, Rotary/ Rotaract, speaking with THE IMPACT at the General Hospital, said that they came to show love to mothers and their newly born babies while also fulfilling one of the group’s cardinal principles.
“Rotaract is an organization established with seven areas of focus, one of which is Maternal and Child health. It is in that light that we took it upon ourselves as a club to reach out on a day like this when everyone is in joyous and merrying mood and we also extend same to the mothers and babies at the General Hospital, Ikorodu.
“We usually show love to them by donating gifts to the first, second and third babies of the year, but there is no third baby this year, so, the gift items were presented to a mother of twins who was also in the ward during our visit.
“We also donated basic needs like toiletries to other mothers that were also in the wards”, he added.
He said that the club was able to have a successful outing because of the support by some donors, of which Mr Aroyewun is a major one.
“We are able to achieve this year due to support that we received from some donors and Mr Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun who has love for humanity and his community, is one of our biggest sponsors”, Rotaract Damilola said.
Earlier on the new year day, Aroyewun had donated gift items to the First Baby born in 2022 at the General Hospital, Ijede.
