Mr Shakiru Seidu, the Chief Executive Officer and Publisher of the MegaXpression Magazine, has been sworn – in as the fourth Chairman of the 1991/92 Class set of the Oriwu College Old Students’ Association of Nigeria (OCOSAN).
The former House of Assembly Legislative aide was sworn – in with other members of the executive council at the Annual General Meeting of his Class set which was held at the Dof Hotel, Ikorodu, on Monday, December 27, 2021.
According to a statement signed by the OCOSAN 1991/92 Set Chairman, the swearing – in of the chairman and the new executive council was performed by Magistrate Olawunmi Ojuola.
Other member of the executive council are Shittu Saheed (Vice-chairman), Kehinde Owoeye (Secretary), Sola Obabiyi (Assistant Secretary), Muraina Sanni (Media Director), Erinle Babatunde (Director of welfare), Kausara Jimoh (Financial Secretary), Tope Adeyoola (Director of Social Affairs), Adedoyin Oyemade- )Head of Legal Service), Kafilat Olukoga (Treasurer), Bose Bissong – Ex-officio), Wande Awolesi- Auditor), Fatimo Fatola (Ex-officio), Segun Adio (Diaspora director) and Chinyere Oyinyechi Saka (Diaspora Director).
Shakiru, in his acceptance speech, thanked every member of the set for their support for his emergence and solicited for their support in having a successful tenure.
“We could not have succeeded without you all, the essence of great leadership is influence not authority. Therefore, I look forward to working with you all to advance issues of importance to our Class-Set”, he said.
“I take on these new responsibilities knowing that I stand on the sturdy shoulders of dedicated members. I believe that I could represent you guys when in need and take charge when necessary.
“I implore every member to please give us the necessary support to serve you in actualization of the set goals to the benefit of all. We are open to advice, corrections and guidance at any point in time as we cannot do it alone”.
The new chairman, on assumption of office, constituted an 8 – man Advisory Council led by Mr Kunle Olanbiwoninu to guide the executive council.
He equally constituted a 21 – Man Planning Committee for the 30th anniversary of the set led by Mr Akeem Oreagba as Chairman and Mr Saheed Shittu as Secretary.
Shakiru further assured members that his administration will be transparent and accountable with the funds of the association.
Magistrate Olawunmi Ojuola, while swearing – in the new executive members, commended the past executives for steering the ship of the association and for conducting a peaceful transition.
He charged the new council to show commitment and dedication and take the association to the next level.
Also speaking, former acting Commissioner for Tourism and Special Adviser on Arts and Culture, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, applauded the association for its consistency and ability to get themselves together.
She enjoined members to ensure that they honour those teachers who taught them in school.
Also at the ceremony was Builder Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA who congratulated Shakiru and his executives.
Builder Daini was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Adewale Bolowotan.
