Members of the Igbogbo Students’ Union (ISU), in commemoration of the union’s 66 years anniversary that commenced on Monday (yesterday), toured schools where the students’ movement is sponsoring projects.
Hundreds of exercise books were also donated to pupils in three primary schools – Methodist Primary School, Igbogbo, Eleja Primary School, Igbogbo and AUD Primary School, Igbogbo, by the unionists.
The anniversary celebration is themed, ‘Connecting the Dots”.
A statement by the ISU reads:
“The ISU Annual week started with a project tour by visiting schools that ISU have done their projects and fulfilled.
“Today, the Union shared hundreds of Notebooks to pupils in three major primary schools in Igbogbo Kingdom as a way of celebrating her 66years of existence.
“Two classrooms were renovated in Methodist Primary School. Upon reaching there today, we checked the renovated classes. The Headmistress was thankful to us for what we have done and prayed for the members of ISU. The President promised the students that another classroom will be renovated before the end of the Year.
“The Union was able to donate chairs and desks to pupils in Eleja Primary School. This came as a surprise to the school and the headmistress said: “I am glad you fulfilled your words”, the statement said.
“The pupils will be forever grateful”, she added.
According to the release, Hon. Comr. Clinton O. Adeniji, ISU President, said that renovations of classrooms and preparations towards other projects started months ago and that he is happy seeing that they are being actualized for the celebration of the anniversary.
“We have kick – started the projects months ago and we are finally glad to see there actualization.
“We are grateful that many hands have supported these projects and have made them achievable”.
As part of the projects tour and donation of exercise on the first day of the anniversary, other activities in commemoration of the 66 anniversary of the ISU are Public Speaking Competition among schools, Community Service/Hundred March Against cardiovascular Diseases, Novelty Match and Grand Finale/Award ceremony.
