The representation of the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Defense, Rep. Babajimi Benson, which has brought about improvement in infrastructural developments in his constituency, was, on Friday (yesterday), applauded by the leadership of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), members and residents of Ikorodu Constituency, during the commissioning of the link roads facilitated by the young lawmaker.
His brilliant performance also earned him endorsement for another term at the event as a chieftain of the highest decision making of the party at the state level, Governance Advisory Council (GAC) , Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun moved the motion for his endorsement, at the commissioning of the five link roads facilitated by Hon. Benson which links the Adeniran Oginsanya/Sabo Road to the Sabo – ltamaga –Itoikin Road.
The commissioned link roads – Kaz Avenue, Ayanbadejo, Adeboriogbon, Nike Olubodun and Ajoke Oduyebo Streets, which are behind the Ayangbure International market (Sabo), were facilitated for construction early this year by Rep. Benson.
The road was commissioned by the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with the State Chairman of the APC, Chief Cornelius Ojelabi, State Secretary, Hon. Sunmi Odesanya, three members of the House of Representatives, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, Council Chairmen, royal fathers and party chieftains in attendance.
Chairman, Imota Local Council Development Area, Hon. Wasiu Agoro, on behalf of other Council Chairmen in lkorodu division, supported the motion with concurrent approval from hundreds of people at the ceremony.
The endorsement also received the blessings of the royal fathers in attendance.
The elder statesman, Asiwaju Basorun, speaking at the ceremony, said that Rep. Benson has been representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency very well and the event of the day with the Speaker and others in attendance has proven that he has been a good lawmaker in the House.
“It is a great thing to have the number four man in the country here in Ikorodu today.
“Hon. Babajimi Benson has been representing us very well in the House for the second term. He has done very well and what we need to do is thank him.
“On this note, I want to move a motion that he should be given an endorsement by our party today”, Basorun said as a loud roar by the crowd rented the air”.
Oba Kabir Shotobi, the Ayanbgbure of Ikorodu, in his royal remarks, said that the longer the lawmaker stays in the House, the better he would become.
“We are happy that we have our son, Hon. Benson, doing well in the House. He has shown to be doing very well which is why the Speaker is here today in Ikorodu for this commissioning.
“The longer that you stay in the House, the more experienced and better that you would become”, Oba Shotobi said.
Also speaking, Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota who sang a special song that he composed for the two – term lawmaker to commend him for his quality representation, said that there hasn’t been anybody who has brilliantly represented the lkorodu federal constituency like Hon. Benson.
“It is on record that there is nobody from lkorodu who has represented lkorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives like Hon. Benson.
“We have been waiting for a General Hospital in Imota for 48 years and we did not get one until Hon. Benson facilitated one for us. The construction is currently ongoing.
“He has touched the nooks and crannies of Ikorodu. He deserves to go for the third term”, the royal father said while also supporting the lawmaker for a third term.
Both the Speaker and State APC Chairman also commended the young lawmaker for his impactful representation for the people of Ikorodu.
Several people at the commissioning also attested to the lawmaker’s good representation and gave approval to his endorsement for a third term.
