His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Aayngbure of Ikorodu and Permanent Vice Chairman, Lagos State Council of Obas & Chiefs, has described Dr Taiwo Hassan, the Medical Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of General Hospital, Ikorodu, as a worthy role model for the youths.
The royal father also said that Dr. Hassan has contributed immensely to General Hospital and Ikorodu while also stating that he has brought honours to the town.
The revered royal father made the sterling remarks during the presentation of the Ikorodu Role Model Award to Dr Hassan by the Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS) on Thursday, November 17, 2021.
The award event was part of the activities marking the 30th Ikorodu-Oga Festival which is currently on-going.
Dr Taiwo Hassan, who became the MD/CEO of the General Hospital, Ikorodu, last year, has turned around the hospital from one that residents were running away from to what the high and low are now embracing.
Within few months of his emergence as the Medical Director, the medical facilities were extended with numerous units/sections that were previously not in existence while services, equipment and other areas of the hospital witnessed tremendous transformation.
He has also added aesthetic value to the medical facility.
“Dr Hassan has been a worthy role model for youths in Ikorodu and beyond. He has brought developments to General Hospital, Ikorodu, and Ikorodu generally.
“He has popularized Ikorodu to the world through his giant strides at the General Hospital. The hospital has won many awards and laurels under his leadership.
“Through his efforts, the General Hospital will soon be a Teaching Hopsital”,Oba Shotobi
In an interview shortly after his award, Dr Hassan charged the youths to be hard working to attain success.
“I want to charge the youths to be hard working and responsible. The reward for hardworking is more work and it is through this that they can be given more responsibilities”, he said.
Responding to his future plans for the General Hospital, he said that he is working towards ensuring that the hospital becomes a teaching hospital.
“My future plan for the General Hospital,Ikorodu, is to ensure that it becomes a teaching hospital. We have all that it takes to attain this”, he said.
Aside the ‘Role Model Award, there was also School Parades, Safety Talk, Music and Drama among others to mark the Youths & Children Day activities of the 30th Ikorodu – Oga Day Carnival.
