The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the representative of the Ikorodu Constituency I, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, has assured the Ward F U – 15 team, named Onward FC, will not be disbanded but supported.
Onward FC won the maiden edition of the Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS) Ward/U-15 football competition played at the Police Barracks on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
The team beat their opponents, Ward E1 FC, 2-0 in the final match to lift the cup.
Aside winning the tournament, a member of the team, Ogunfile Daniels, who scored 6 goals, also emerged as the highest goal scorer of the tournament while the team’s goalkeeper, Akinola Taiwo, who kept a clean sheet throughout the tournament, was awarded the best goalkeeper.
Hon. Agunbiade, welcoming the team during their victory visit to his Constituency office, commended the players for bringing honour to the Ward and promised them support.
“I thank you for emerging victorious in the competition. This is a great honour that you have done to me and the entire people of Ward F in Ikorodu Local Government.
“We are not going to disband this team. I promise you that we will keep, support and sponsor the team”.
While stating that he would still find time to engage the young players on their dreams, especially their educational pursuits and see how they can be supported, Hon. Agunbiade gave them a cash reward for their efforts.
He also promised them that they would be hosted for the feat that they achieved.
In the same vein, Alhaji Aromasodun Olanrewaju (NTAB) and Hon. Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo also pledged some amount of money as support for the team.
Also, Hon. Oluwakemi Buraimoh, the councilor representing Ward F in the Ikorodu LG Legislative Arm and the sponsor of the team, also commended the team and promised further support for them.
