500 households were fed in Ikorodu courtesy of the Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS) in conjunction with the Ikorodu Progressives Association in the United Kingdom.
The beneficiaries were presented with bags that contained rice, garri, spaghetti and other food items at a well coordinated event held at the Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu on Sunday, November 7, 2021.
According to IKODASS Chairman, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, the food items were provided by the sons and daughters of Ikorodu who are based in the United Kingdom as part of their support for the people back home.
“Thank you all for honouring our invitation. You are called here today to receive food items which were facilitated by IKODASS and donated by our brothers, sons and daughters in the UK”, the IKODASS Chairman said.
“They feel that there is a need for them to give back to people back home and this is part of their ways of saying that they are still very much with you.
“We are in constant touch with them and they still have other programmes that will be of great support for us in Ikorodu.
“Always remember the donors in your prayers that God should continue to provide for them and guide them so that they can continue to provide for people back home in Ikorodu”, he added.
Erogbogbo also reminded the beneficiaries of the forthcoming 30th edition of the Ikorodu – Oga festival.
“I also want to use this opportunity to remind our fathers, mothers and others here today that your much awaited Ikorodu-Oga Carnival is here again. We have loaded activities to make you enjoy the celebration.
“Endeavour to partake in all the activities because this is our Ikorodu and we must be part of its development”,he charged.
The Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC), Alhaji Luqman Shonibare, also speaking, thanked the donors for remembering vulnerable people back home.
He added that the commendable initiative should be a continuous exercise because many people actually needed the support.
Chief Gbenga Dosumu, popularly called, ‘Eweso’, also commended the initiative of the Ikorodu Progressives.
He assured that the association has other programmes for the people back in Ikorodu like medical check-up, continuation of the food program and other developmental initiatives.
Among the beneficiaries were special people, aged, widows, less privileged and others.
