Offin – Ile football team, on Friday, December 5, showed no mercy to their opponents, Pineapple Estate FC, as they hammered them 6 goals to nil in the ongoing Oba Adeboruwa Cup hosted in commemoration of the 33rd Igbogbo Day Celebration.
The soccer tournament, since commencement, has been attracting massive crowd of football lovers who throng the Igbogbo Stadium venue of the matches, in large numbers on daily basis to watch good football.
While Olohunjeda Ayo scored two goals for Offin – Ile FC, the quartet of Adebayo Hakeem, Odeh Victor, Oke Idris and Ayobami Busari also scored a goal each to condemn Pineaple Estate FC to one of the worst results of the tournament.
The Centre Referee issued two yellow cards each to both teams in the encounter.
In the Match 20 also played yesterday, Itungbodo FC and Agunfoye FC played out a goalless draw in the pulsating match which saw both teams did everything to outdo each other.
Five players from both teams were issued yellow cards in the game.
Also, Alimi Wasiu (Offin Ile FC), Ochepa Sunday (Itungbodo FC), Michael Odunayo(Agunfoye FC) and Caros Yomi (Agunfoye FC) will miss the next match of their respective teams after accumulating excessive yellow cards.
At the end of the matches on Friday, the late Chief Adebola Faniyi Man of the Match Award was presented to Adebayo Hakeem (Offin Ile FC) and Gbolade Remi (Itungbodo FC) for their outstanding performances in their respective games, while Tobi Alagbe Goal of the Day Award was presented to Olohunjeda Ayo (Offin Ile FC) who scored a direct free – kick for his team during the Match 19 encounter.
So far, a total of 20 matches have been played while 59 goals have been scored in the soccer competition.
Matches continue today at the Igbogbo Stadium venue of the tournament.
