The medical facility, which is going to be fully equipped, is coming 48 years after some plots of land had been acquired by the government for the purpose of constructing a befitting medical centre in the ancient town.
According to the Site Engineer, the duration of the contract for the construction of the facility is four months.
At the brief ground breaking/foundation laying ceremony were His Royal Majesty, Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota, Hon. The royal father fervently prayed for the two – term lawmaker for continuous progression and also thanked him for facilitating the medical facility for Imota.
“You have been making use of the advice that I gave you in this palace the first time that I met you and that has been helping you greatly”, Oba Agoro said.
“I always say that politics is all about fame and fortune but a good politician must seek fame first before fortune. If you achieve fame, fortune will definitely find you.
“In your own case, you have sought fame and you are now famous because of your laudable programmes and quality representation”, the royal father added.
“For facilitating this for Imota and putting smiles on our faces, fortune shall never depart you. This facility, when completed, will be a big relief for the people of our community who have been clamouring for a standard medical facility.
“You deserve another term as the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency in Abuja and you also deserve to be a governor”.
Oba Agoro recalled that the land was acquired in 1972 for the purpose of constructing medical facility in Imota but that the promise was not fulfilled until Rep. Benson facilitated the medical centre.
The monarch, who could not hide his joy for the ground breaking ceremony, sang many traditional songs to praise Rep. Benson and also danced with him while government functionaries, chiefs and others joined in dancing and rejoicing in the palace.
