-Erogbogbo, Fatuga, others get Merit Awards
The first edition of the Ikorodu Event Conference came to a close with a well – attended and colourful dinner that had players in the industry and dignitaries in attendance.
At the award dinner held at the Aquila Event Centre on Wednesday, October 20, the organizer of the conference, Ikorodu Event Hub, also launched an app, ‘Ikorodu Event Hub’ which accommodates all the event brands in Ikorodu for easy access for customers in need of there services.
In the first category of the award, DJ Maps of IKD 106.1FM emerged the ‘DJ of the year’. The announcement threw the hall into wild jubilation which showed approval of the winner as worthy of the award.
Lakunle Ologuro, a brand which has been making waves since its entry into the industry a couple of years ago with its unique initiative, won the ‘Local Drink of the year’ of the year.
The ‘Cake of the year’ award in Ikorodu was won by the Zully Cakes while Aquila Event Centre emerged as the Event Centre of the year.
Six individuals: Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, Chairman, Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Mrs Olajumoke Ogedengbe, CEO, Jumat Event Centre, Mr Adedejo Fatuga, Administrator, The Ikorodu Ambassador, Mr Adetunji Ajadi, Mr Jubril Adeleke and Mr Batare Akpomujiro were honoured with Merit Awards by the organisers in recognition of their contributions to the event industry and community development.
Okufuwa Ebunoluwa, the Chief Executive Officer, Zaphrina Events and Convener, Ikorodu Event Hub, speaking at the award dinner, said that the conference was designed to engage industry actors on how to do business in the proper way and also share experiences.
“The Ikorodu Event Conference is channeled towards helping event business owners grow and learn to do business the right way”, she said.
“The conference is a platform to learn, unlearn and relearn as well as get enlightened from teachings and shared experiences from industry experts. This event also creates avenues to network and collaborate with the other industry players and colleagues.
“The Event industry is a peculiar one and has had a great impact on the economy of Ikorodu, Lagos and Nigeria as a whole”.
On the award, Ebunoluwa said that the Hub is honouring brands that have distinguished themselves in the industry.
“The award ceremony is specially designed to celebrate Excellence and Professionalism in the Ikorodu Event Industry. All nominees are applauded to have come this far. You are all winners”, she said.
“I am indeed happy and grateful to all industry professionals and stakeholders who have supported us thus far”, she said.
The Chairman of the occasion, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, in his speech, said that he believes more than before that the future of Ikorodu is here.
He saluted the Convener of Ikorodu Event Hub and her team for bringing players in the industry together.
“I strongly believe that the future is here with us in Ikorodu with these young men changing the narratives”, Erogbogbo said.
“We support you because you have proven to have known what you are doing. Ikorodu is a big business and a city and we need our youths to continually initiate and innovate.
“I am also into event business with my club, EROZ Place. We can locate that here because we know there are people in Ikorodu.
“I commend you for starting very well with what others failed to do”, Erogbogbo said.
Other brands that were given awards were – All Locations Affair Centre (Rental Company of the year), Yellow Balls Visual (Photographer of the year), Resource Alaga (Alaga of the year), Hair Artistry (Bridal Hair Stylist of the year), Pantry Signature (Finger Food Company of the year) and Top Guests Event (Event Decorator of the year) among others.
Da Fresh Olorin, Meyrah and Fireman entertained guests with some of their songs, while guests were also served delicious food, small chops and drinks.
