The Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) on Thursday (yesterday) continued its quest to support the development of education in Ikorodu by donating office, home economic and computer laboratory equipment and other items to the United Junior High School, Ikorodu.
Items donated were 20 office tables, 20 chairs, three Desktop Computer Systems, one Deep Freezer, one big gas cooker with gas cylinder among others.
The brief presentation brought excitement to the School Principal, staff and students of the school who accepted the items wholeheartedly.
Prof. (Chief) Kunle Ade Wahab, OON, OFR, the Chairman, Ikorodu Division Human Resource Development Board (IDHRDB) and Asiwaju of Ipakodo Kingdom, announced that the group has adopted the school for support in terms of provision of educational materials.
“Ikorodu Division Human Resource Development Board (IDHRDB) has taken it upon itself to adopt United Junior High School, Ikorodu, for adequate support in terms of provision of educational items to enhance the school academic performances”, Prof. Wahab said.
“In anticipation of more assistance, we hope they’ll manage and maintain the ones we have provided today”, he added.
The Chairman of the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG), under which the IDHRDB operates, Bashorun Babatunde Rotinwa, said that the gesture is to provide a conducive environment for students to operate and thrive to be the best.
He pledged that the body would continue to mobilize support for the school in its quest to make students and teachers attain their potential.
“While growing up, we never thought we would eventually get to the level we found ourselves. This is why we want to encourage teachers and students not to stop taking their career seriously. Anything can happen and success is by the door, so never count yourself low in any jurisdiction you find yourself”, Bashorun Rotinwa said.
“We would have loved to do more but it is best to work according to one’s capacity, which the Ikorodu division human resource development board has been able to accomplish today. We believe that very soon, we’ll mobilise more resources across”, the former Lagos State Head of Service added.
In her acceptance speech, Mrs Victoria Bello, Principal, United Junior High School, Ikorodu, thanked the group for the donation.
“Words cannot describe our sincere gratitude to the board for supplying the school with these items. We have been on their neck to assist us and today our request paid off which has brought smiles and excitement to the faces of our teachers and students”, she said.
“While we express our appreciation, we also believe the board can still do more. So, we’re also using this medium to seek more support from them and as they do, God will replenish their reservations”.
