Residents of Ikorodu, especially those commuting in and out of the town on daily basis to other parts of the state, will have alternatives to the BRT buses which are being managed by the Primero Bus Service Limited, as Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has granted the Lagos Bus Service Limited (LBSL) approval to operate on the Ikorodu route.
Residents have been clamouring that Primero’s monopoly on the Ikorodu route should be broken since the company has been unable to provide efficient and adequate services.
Mr Babatunde Obadina, the Fleet Operation Manager of the LBSL, confirmed the commencement of operation to THE IMPACT on phone late Saturday.
“We are going to resume and provide services on the Ikorodu route starting from 5.30am on Monday”, he confirmed.
“It is an intervention initiative for now but we will see what happens next. Our target is to provide quality services to commuters.
“We will be there at 5.30am on Monday”, he reconfirmed.
The lingering problems being faced by the residents of Ikorodu on a daily basis and the consequent demand for other BRT buses operators informed the reason companies like Lagos Bus Service Limited (LBSL) is being allowed to operate on the route with massive traffic intensified.
Residents’ argument is that the allowing LBSL, Amalgamated, TSL and others will bring about competition which would eventually creates efficiency of services.
