The Table Tennis champion at the maiden edition of the IKODASS U-17 Indoor Games Youth Championship, Miss Imole –Ayo Ajasa, said that she had already quit playing the game because she wasn’t getting support.
The 17 – year old girl, who won the gold in the female category of the Table Tennis game at the just concluded championship, however, said that she felt excited for winning the tournament and that she is ready to come back to playing the game that she loves most.
Imole – Ayo beat Musbau Faisat in the first two sets and the fourth one 11 – 9, 13 – 11, 11 – 4 while she lost the third set 8 – 11.
She spoke with THE IMPACT after winning the final match on Thursday.
”I came for the tournament not prepared because I had already quit playing table tennis because of lack of support for my career”, she said.
“But I feel very excited for winning the championship. I really did not believe that I could get to the final of the game.
“I will resume my training because I want to be champion again, starting with the National Youth Sports Festival in Ilorin”.
Imole – Ayo, who said that she wants to study Theatre Arts, thanked IKODASS for hosting the competition which she said brought her back to play the game again.
“I want to thank IKODASS for hosting the competition and encouraging us”, she said.
