Sports Commission To Engage 57 Councils In Community Games

The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) has revealed its plan to stage Community Games among the 20 Local Governments (LG) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) in the state.

The Director – General of the State Sports Commission, Mr Oluwatoyin Gafaar, made the revelation in his office on Wednesday,August 18, 2021, when the Chairman of the Ikorodu – Oga Development Association, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, and his team paid him a visit.

He said that the intention of staging the games, which he said would come up next month, is to bring development to the grassroots.

“We are starting a community game next month which will see all the 57 Local Government (LGs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) compete with one another in various games”, he said.

“The intention is to get the councils to participate and win prizes which will not be giving in cash but in the form of projects.

“There are 12 games that have been listed for the Community Games.

“The game will have great social and economic importance on various councils”, he said.

Gafaar further stated that the execution of the rewards (projects) in various councils will be carried out under the local governments and also added that a Local Organizing Committee (LOC) would be put in place for the games.
