-Win 9 Awards at District’s award ceremony
The premier college in Ikorodu Division and best school in Nigeria, Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, has continued its tradition of winning laurels in academics and other fields as the school and its staff bagged nine awards in the Education District lI, Lagos State.
The school emerged as the best school at the District’s 15th annual merit award ceremony held at the Immaculate Heart Comprehensive Senior School, Maryland, on Thursday, July 29, 2021, themed, “Enhancing Excellence In The New Normal”.
The Lagos House of Assembly’s Chairman House Committee on Education, Hon. Okanlawon Sanni, was the chairman of the occasion.
While the Oriwu College Senior School won six awards, the Junior School won three. Both sections of the premier college also emerged as best schools in their respective categories.
Awards won by the Oriwu Senior Model College at the ceremony were: Best School 2020 (1st position), (Senior school category); Best Teacher, Sobowale A.O (1st position), (Senior school category); Best Head of Department, Ajayi .M.R. (1st position), (Senior school category); Best Vice Principal, Raheem .A.M. (2nd position), (Senior school category); Best Year Tutor, Adeliyi .O.T . (2nd position.), Senior school category) and Best Non – Teaching, Salaudeen l.A. (1st position), (Senior school category).
The award won by the Junior section of the school were: Mrs Johnson K.A , Principal of Oriwu Junior Model College (Best School in Junior category); Mrs Salami Oyinade (Best Non Teaching staff in Junior category) and Oriwu Junior Model College also won the best school in the junior category.
Meanwhile, in a phone chat with the Principal of the Oriwu Senior Model College, Mr Akeem Bello, he thanked God for the feat achieved by the school.
He said that the school proved its worth as the topmost school by winning nine awards at the 2021 District II Merit Award ceremony.
“I give God the glory for crowning our efforts in Oriwu Senior Model College, lkorodu, with 6 awards at the 15th District ll annual award ceremony. The junior school also won three awards” Mr bBello said.
“All awards are dedicated to God Almighty and the entire staff of Oriwu Senior Model College, lkorodu.
The school administrator also thanked the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo and the Tutor – Genera/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mrs Adekanye Anike, for the support for the school and students.
