The new chairman of Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, on Wednesday (yesterday), officially resumed duty as the Council's helmsman for the next four years and set his agenda for the next 100 days in office.
Hon. Olanrewaju, who is a former Vice Chairman of the council, emerged winner in the last Saturday’s Local Government elections and was among the 57 Council Chairmen sworn – in by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
On his assumption of office, he sworn – in the elected Councillors in the council and also proclaimed the existence of the 5th Assembly in the Council.
In a chat with THE IMPACT in his office, Hon. Sulaimon said that residents of the council are expecting so much from his administration and that he would be hitting the ground running immediately to deliver on his electoral promises.
“We are resuming in office today (Wednesday), and there is so much to be done. Officially, today is my second day in office and my people are expecting so much from me and we must do the needful to improve the wellbeing of our people”, he said.
“We have to start working immediately, he added.
While disclosing his agenda for the first 100 days in office, the Council Chairman said that his first focus will be to know the problems confronting the primary education system in the council in order to know how to intervene.
“The first thing that I will be looking into is education. I will be visiting the primary schools in the council to know their needs”, he said.
“I will also be giving the pupils exercise books”, he added.
“Secondly, I will be meeting with the Community Development Associations (CDAs) and Community Development Committee (CDC) to know their needs in their various communities.
“That is how to get first – hand information because I don’t know it all. That’s why I have to get in touch with them”.
Other programmes highlighted by the Chairman for his first 100 days in office are:
“Also, I will be meeting with the Oba and Chiefs in my jurisdiction to know their challenges and also have their inputs in the administration.
“Thereafter, I will meet with the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and other security agencies to know about the security situation in the council”, he said.
