-Party, residents vouch for his representation
It was a massive outing and show of love for Lion Batife Daisi, the Councillorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward B (Majidun) in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), as election campaign was officially flagged – off in Majidun for the July 24 Local Government Elections.
The councillorship candidate proved that his party made the best decision in picking him as its candidate as market women, okada riders, youths, elderly people and many other residents cheered and hailed him for his political and community development activities over the years, while moving round his Ward during the campaign.
Batife received the party’s flag as the APC flag bearer at the campaign held on Saturday, July 17, from the party chairman, Alhaji Nofiu Olakitan and other party chieftains which included Hon. Magnus Oluwafemi Agbo, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Local Government elections in Ikorodu West LCDA, Alhaji Folashade Olunloyo, women leader and Alhaji Jamiu Kukoyi, party secretary.
The APC Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju and Hon. Adesegun Aluko were also present.
The mobilization efforts of Batife, who has been impacting on his community through his Omituntun Care Foundation, was also acknowledged by the Chairman of the APC in Ikorodu West LCDA, Alhaji Olakitan who described the Ward B campaign rally as the best so far.
The APC Chairman also commended the way and manner that Ward B which has the largest number of Chairmanship and Councillorship aspirants, resolved their differences, stating that he is rest assured that the Councillorship candidate and other aspirants in the Ward are capable of handling party matters without his involvement.
“I am surprised with the level of the arrangement in Ward B because I know that Batife is capable. It is the best so far”, Alhaji Olakitan declared.
“It is only in Ward B that I did not come during the reconciliation that we embarked upon after the primary election because they had resolved their own differences on their own.
The APC Chairman recalled that he met Batife for the first time when he intervened and empowered Street Sweepers.
While adding that he has also been doing other developmental projects in the community, Alhaji Olakitan assured the electorate that Batife will not disappoint them if voted in as the Councillor representing the Ward.
“I got to know Batife the day that he empowered Street Sweepers when they were not paid. He intervened and spoke to them and later asked them to follow him”, Alhaji Olakitan recalled.
“I am also aware that he has been assisting many other people because he loves to see development in his community.
“He has also been constructing boreholes for his community and I am sure that he will not disappoint us and his community when he gets into the office.
“I have absolute trust in Hon. Batife and I commend other Chairmanship and Councillorship aspirants for supporting and cooperating with him”, he said.
Hon. Magnus Oluwafemi Agbi, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Local Government elections, while also stating that Batife is capable, also stated that the electorate should vote for the APC in the coming elections.
He campaigned that the party is doing very well at the federal and state levels and that there is need for continuity.
“Batife is our candidate and he’s capable of representing us”, Hon. Agbi said.
“I appeal to you to come out massively and vote for APC on Saturday, July 24. Ensure that you cast your vote inside the box opposite the APC logo. It is APC that you will vote for, not SKO, Aluko or Batife that are our candidates.
“We want continuity of good programmes by our party at the federal, state and local government levels.
“We are all aware of the state of our roads before but our state government is working assiduously to ensure that we have a good road network in many areas in Ikorodu Division. In Ikorodu West LCDA, you can see what the government is doing on Agric – Owutu and Sekumade roads.
“The government is also ensuring that our educational sector is developed.
The Councillorship candidate, Lion Batife Daisi, in his acceptance speech, assured the electorate that he will not disappoint them and pledged that he will move closer to them to know their needs at all times.
“I will not promise you anything that I cannot do because I am seeking your vote. One thing that is certain is that I will not disappoint you”, Batife said.
”Once you elect me, the first thing that I’ll do is to get closer to you and know what you really want and what you expect from me and that is what that I will work on.
Meanwhile, in an interview with THE IMPACT, the popular candidate said that he will work with other Councillors when elected to make laws and policies that would impact positively on the residents of his Ward and the Ikorodu West LCDA generally.
He also pledged to work with the executive arm of the council in ensuring that infrastructural and other developments are facilitated for his Ward.
He, however, charged party members and the residents at the campaign rally to sensitise the general populace about his person and his party as the best choice to vote for come July 24.
Many of the party members and residents that spoke with our reporter said that they believe in the candidacy of Lion Batife while they also expressed confidence that he would deliver and not disappoint them.
They said that the APC made the right decision in picking him as its flag bearer because he is the people’s choice based on his community development activities when he was not in power.
Party chieftains and residents were entertained by Batife kids who were trained by the Councillorship candidate while he also joined them in the impressive performance.
