Former Vice Chairman of the Ijede Local Development Area, Hon. (Mrs) Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, was, on Thursday (yesterday), presented the flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as its Chairmanship candidate in the council for the July 24 Local Government elections.
At the campaign flag – off held at the APC Secretariat in ljede, was Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, the representative of the Ikorodu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Chairman of the House committee on Public Account (State).
At the event, Hon. Alogba, who is the daughter of the first Chairman of Ijede LCDA and the Woman Leader of the APC in Lagos East Senatorial District, late Yeye Fausat Gbadebo, was presented as the party’s flag bearer alongside Mr Kabir Kareem, the Chief Press Secretary to the immediate past Chairman of the council.
While speaking at the flag-off, Hon. Solaja charged members of the party to embark on mobilization of voters and ensure that APC candidates emerge victorious in the coming election.
The Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Alogba in her speech, a copy of which was sent to THE IMPACT, thanked party members and entire people of Ijede for defying the rain to attend the campaign flag – off.
“Permit me to use this medium to appreciate the good people of Ijede LCDA for defying the rain to join us at the official flag-off of the All Progressives Congress Chairmanship and Councilorship campaign today at the party Secretariat in Ijede”, she said.
“I am most sincerely overwhelmed by the show of love, conviction and support by both the young and the old. I pray to Almighty God to equip me with the knowledge and wisdom to live up to the expectations”, she said in the speech.
Alogba said that the flag – off of the campaign is the beginning of a process of developing Ijede LCDA and called for support in achieving her developmental agenda starting from July 24 when she expected massive votes to emerge as the council chairman.
“No doubt, today marks the beginning of a process and I call on you all to let’s get the job done come July 24, 2021. Let’s come out en masse to vote for APC and its candidates to achieve a greater Ijede LCDA”, she said.
She thanked the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other State and Divisional leaders for the opportunity given to her to be the party’s flag bearer in the coming election.
“I thank the National Leader of our party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, I thank members of the Governor’s Advisory Council in Ikorodu; HE Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun and Senator Tokunbo Abiru, for leading the path.
“I thank the James Bond of our time, Chairman House Committee on Defence, Federal House of Representatives, Rep. Babajimi Benson, for his continuous guidance and mentoring. I thank the Lagos State House of Assembly Majority Leader, Hon. SOB Agunbiade, for your fatherly support.
“In no particular order, I wholeheartedly thank APC leaders in Ijede; Alhaji Amusa, Honourable Hassan Adefarasin, Baba Oba of Egbin 'Golden J', our Party Chairman, Sunday Kareem, Alhaji Fahm, Alhaja Olubi, Alhaji Shodis, Hon Ileyemi Johnson, Chief Ajala, Chief Raji Olodo, Chief Nojeem Fasasi, Evangelist Falohun and many others too numerous to mention for taking me as their daughter.
“I thank my leader and member representing Ikorodu Constituency 2, Hon. Nurudeen Saka, for his presence and fatherly support. I thank my Boss and father, Honorable Fatiu Salisu, for making it a point of duty to be present at the flag-off despite his tight travelling schedule.
She also expressed her sincere appreciation to the traditional institution and other stakeholders in the council for their support for her candidacy.
“I thank the Obateru Of Egbin, the Alajede-In-Council, the traditional institutions, the good women of Ijede, the youths, the CDC, CDAs and all stakeholders who found me worthy of the coming responsibility. May Almighty Allah meet you all at your point of need and grant your heart desires”, she prayed.
