-Accord Party to field candidates only in Ikorodu North LCDA
The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has released the list of its candidates for the Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates for the July 24 Local Government election in the 20 Councils and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
With the release of the list, the main opposition party, which held its primary election based on consensus arrangement in most councils about two weeks ago, has shown its readiness to compete with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which is controlling all the 57 councils, in the coming election.
The statement by the party, signed by Engr. Adedeji Doherty and Mr Muiz Dosunmu as State Chairman and Secretary respectively, were made available to THE IMPACT.
The ruling party, APC, had since released the list of its candidates after a controversial primary election across the state.
Like the APC, the PDP will be fielding candidates for all the available positions in all the LG and five LCDAs in Ikorodu Division.
In Ikorodu LG, Mr Babatunde Hassan Rafiu is the party’s Chairmanship candidate, while his Vice is Odesanya Abolore Mudirat.
The seven Councillorship candidates for the party in Ikorodu LG are- Tijani Kehinde Ganiu, Bakare Babatunde Kamal, Olaoye Wasiu, Banjoko Noimota O., Adelakin Moshood, Lamina Sodiq Adewale and Owolabi T. Olanrewaju.
For the Ikorodu West LCDA, Lawal Olamide O. is the Chairmanship candidate while Alabi Hammed is the Vice chairman.
Omoyele Olushola I., Famakinwa Adewale, Adelana Adeleke K. and Oyelakin Olayinka are the Councillorship candidates of the party in the council.
Raji Omotayo Hazzan and Monday Egheleme are the PDP's Chairmanship and Vice chairmanship candidates respectively in Ikorodu North LCDA.
The party’s Councillorship candidates in the council are Akintunde Adeyemi, Oshinkoya Moruf, Dada Bode Olashogo, Adekogbe Ridwan Adeye and Funmilayo Adebayo.
For Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, the main opposition party is presenting Oyesanya Tosin Adeboye as its Chairmanship candidate and Afinju Ibrahim Adio as the Vice chairmanship candidate.
Its five Councillorship candidates for Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA are Alabi Mojisola, Odesanya Moshood, Idowu Hammed O, Oluwatosin Omosowodeni and Ogundario Abel Rotimi.
In Ijede LCDA, Afinla Lookman Adewale is the Chairmanship candidate of PDP while Oginni Gideon Oluwole is the Vice chairmanship candidate.
The four Councillorship candidates of the party in the council are Oluwakemi P. Oladayo, Odubajo Nura Amope, Oladega Nimota O. and Oyesile Adebisi Monsurat
In lmota LCDA, Fatai Ogunfolabi and Williams Ikpegbu are the Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates respectively for the main opposition party, while the party’s Councillorship candidates are Segun Agoro (Ward A), Hammed Ogunlaru (Ward B), Azeez Orenuga (Ward C) and Micheal Otubo (Ward D).
Another opposition party that will also be contesting in the coming council election in Ikorodu Division is the Accord Party (AP). But unlike the PDP, the party will only be fielding candidates in Ikorodu North LCDA.
The AP Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Adeosun Iyanda Quadri, was a Chairmanship aspirant on the APC platform but left the party after he felt aggrieved over the way the party picked its candidates without a proper primary election. The Vice Chairmanship candidate of AP in Ikorodu North LCDA is Adenola Modinat Abosede, while Awolaja Olanrewaju (Ward E1, Odogunyan), Omolara Alli (Ward E2, Erikorodo), Yomi Adamson (Ward E3, Agbala) and Dele Ige (Ward B3, Isiwu) are the party’s Councillorship candidates in the council.
