Kunle Adelabu
There was lull in commercial and social activities in Ikorodu today due to the planned June 12 protest which, as at the time of filing this report, has failed to hold in any part of the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.
Most major roads in Ikorodu were deserted while few vehicles were seen on the road as most shops were under lock and key.
Markets too were shut as sellers and buyers stayed back in their respective houses, except at the Allison market where some market women displayed their wares.
There was also no presence of policemen outside, especially at strategic locations except for a patrol van that was seen approaching the Ikorodu garage while our reporter was leaving the area.
Our reporters, who equally covered some parts of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ikorodu Local Government and Ikorodu West LCDA, equally reported same situation from their respective beats.
Major roads like Awolowo Way, Oba Omolaja Ogunlewe Road, Odofin road, Igbogbo – Ipakodo road among others visited today were deserted with little activity.
In Ikorodu Local Government, Ojubode /Ikorodu garage road, Ikorodu – Lagos road, Ikorodu Sabo road, Ikorodu – Igbogbo road, Ireshe, Sheriff/Ota-Ona/Alhaji/Ladega road, Awolowo Way, Itunmaja – Sabo road, Ayangbure road, Oriwu, Ita – Elewa and TOS Benson Avenue were also deserted.
It was the same situation at Beach road, Jimbo Street, NBC Way, Ipakodo – Igbogbo road and Ipakodo – Ibeshe road in Ikorodu West LCDA.
