The Ikorodu Division Football Association (IDFA) has appointed a retired FIFA rated referee and Premier League Match Commissioner, Mr Saheed Ayeni, FIFA, as the Head of its Referee Unit.
The IDFA Chairman, Alhaji Lukman Sonibare, informed THE IMPACT about the development.
According to Alhaji Shonibare, the Referee Unit Head is responsible for the appointment of match officials in any given match.
“The FA has decided to appoint Mr Ayeni, FIFA, as the Head of the Referee Unit which is saddled with the responsibility of appointing match referees for matches”, he said.
“This is the practice at the National and the five Divisional FAs in the State.
“We are going to give him a letter of appointment as it done elsewhere and he has been duly informed. Although, he wanted to reject it but I charged him to take up the responsibility in the interest of the game”, Alhaji Sonibare said.
Henceforth, the Unit Head will be in – charge of appointing referees for all matches organized by the FA in Ikorodu Division.
