The young aspirant for the Chairmanship position of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, Prince Adedoyin Eniola Ogunbiyi Jokotex, continued his daring campaign on Saturday, May 22, 2021, by officially declaring his aspiration.
He also unveiled his agenda to the people of Ikorodu North LCDA and appealed to them that he has a blueprint to turn around the council and make them feel good about governance.
He said that he has conducted surveys on public infrastructures and areas of local government jurisdiction and that he is well informed of the challenges and also has solutions.
“Today, we want to talk about the challenges and the way forward for Ikorodu North LCDA which is why we are officially flagging off our campaign and declaring our intent to run as the Executive Chairman of the Council”, Prince Jokotex said.
“As a young man, I have decided to join the race for the chairmanship position to bring good governance to lkorodu North LCDA and we are not here to castigate any government or to condemn any administration but to tell the whole world our capacity and demonstrate our experience to the extent of what we want to deliver to the people of Ikorodu North LCDA at large and lkorodu by extension.
“I, Adedoyin Eniola Ogunbiyi Jokotex, on this day, hereby, tell the entire people of Ikorodu North LCDA that if you give us your mandate, it will impact positively.
“We are here to tell the whole world what we can do. We will not make promises that we will not be able to keep. We are tested and trusted and we will do everything we are saying today if we are given the opportunity to run as the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA”, he assured the people of the council.
Presenting his agenda for the youths, Prince Jokotex said:
“As a youth, if I am given the opportunity to run, what I will be doing for the youths is that I will be setting up a committee to interface with youth organizations and stakeholders across the five political zones in Ikorodu North LCDA.
“The committee will collate data for employable youths and non – employable youths.
“We are going to encourage skill acquisition and make our youths that are interested in acquiring skills do that because this is what is in demand in most advanced countries and there is also a need to focus on skill development of our youths here so that they can meaningfully contribute to our economy and be independent”, he said.
“We will rejig our vocational centres and train our youths and also empower them after acquiring necessary skills with resources and lobby corporate organizations and NGOs to engage them. We will not just give them certificates like what they are doing now but support them practically.
“On sporting activities, we are going to revive activities in this regard. I have invested in sports by hosting tournaments previously. I will ensure that the five Wards are engaged in sporting activities that will take our youths off the streets gradually.
The aspirant said that his campaign movement will not be disbanded after the election because it is a movement that will still be relevant post election in involving and solving issues for residents.
Unveiling his agenda on security, Jokotex said that:
“If you give us the opportunity to attain the position of the chairman of lkorodu North LCDA, I will set up board that will be called Security Board which will involve representatives of the youth organizations, religious bodies, traditional heads and party chieftains to work out a template on how to find lasting and workable solutions to insecurity in the council.
“We are going to find lasting solutions to the challenges of insecurity.
On primary health, which is another area that local council is empowered to manage, the aspirant said:
“I feel so bad for the state of our Primary Health Centre in Ikorodu North LCDA, because that is my primary constituency.
“We have done our survey on all the nine primary health centers in Ikorodu North LCDA, they are in serious shambles. They are debilitated. They are not in order.
“ I am feeling so bad because they are the primary contacts of the people in the grassroots. The general hospital is the secondary contact and teaching hospital is tertiary. We should not allow our people to carry the problem that is supposed to be taken care of in PHCs to the General Hospital.
“We will turn around the state of the PHCs if allowed and if elected and that is a must for me in particular because that is my constituency and l will not allow people to use it to abuse me. We will do a total overhauling in our PHCs.
Speaking on his agenda for Primary Schools in the Council, Prince Adedoyin Jokotex said:
“We have 11 primary schools across the five political units in Ikorodu North LCDA. I feel pity with the revelations of our survey. We saw that there are so many issues like lack of chairs, tables, water and bad environment”, he said.
“We are also products of public schools and if given the chance, we will do what is expected to be done in our primary schools and make them functional because we know what to do.
“We are not going there to test – run but to experiment. We are going there to do what we know how to do and we have a blueprint to implement if given the chance.
“Within 90 to 120 days in office, people will see what we are capable of doing.
On environment, he said:
“Ikorodu North LCDA is a rural Area and we have flooding issues and environmental degradation across five political wards and we have decided on what to do to address the challenges.
“I will appoint an Environmental Board with technocrats on the environment to assist us in dealing with the issues. Personally, I have about 20 years experience in waste management and as a result, l will ensure that I deploy my expertise in this area to make our council environmentally friendly.
He said that religious, traditional, market, youth and other critical sectors of the council will be considered for membership of boards because of their roles in the community.
The aspirant also said that his revenue generation will go in tandem with the infrastructural developments by giving back a certain percentage of revenue generated in each of the political wards inform of provision of infrastructure.
“Our revenue generation for Ikorodu North will have a human face and we are going to use it to encourage people in the council because they are not only going to see but also feel our infrastructural inputs.
“At present, the infrastructure in Ikorodu North LCDA is nothing to write about. Nothing has been done in several years. We are going to have an aggressive infrastructural development based on what we generate from each ward.
“We will have a revenue board and 50 to 55% of whatever revenue that we generate in each ward will be returned in the form of capital projects.
“If we do that for many months, we will see that more people will be interested in paying taxes because they know that they are going to get their worth back in terms of infrastructure developments in their areas.
“We are going to work on our bad roads that are not accessible. We are going to get a good grader, an excavator for drainage and a tipper to cart away whatever is excavated. Through this, we will be providing job opportunities and the community will be better for it.
He appealed to residents of the council to support his aspiration so that he could bring changes and good governance to them.
Some of the dignitaries at the event were Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, the immediate past Chairman, Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Alhaji Matti, the representative of Arewa community, Special Adviser to Governor on Commerce, Industry and Cooperative, Alhaji Raqaz Aregbesola, the lyaoloja General of lkorodu North, Alhaji Monsuru Akinbajo, C.E.O De- MAAB Nigeria Limited, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ikorodu North LCDA and Chief Imam, Ikorodu orth LCDA among many others.
