A former Leader of the Legislative Arm of the Ikorodu Local Government who is now vying for the Chairmanship position of the council, Hon. Azeez Abiodun Jimoh Olosugbo, has said that he would focus on partnership with Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the lkorodu Division if elected.
The young aspirant said that his mission is to work with LCDAs in the division for sustainable development, a practice which, according to him, has never happened in the last 18 years since the five LCDAs were created out of the Ikorodu LG.
Olosugbo spoke at the flag – off campaign of Hon. Mathew Aliu Adesanya, a leading Chairmanship aspirant in Ikorodu North LCDA at the weekend.
“I am vying for the Chairmanship position in Ikorodu Local Government and if elected, I am going to do partnership with Ikorodu North LCDA in the area of agriculture, road, employment among others”, he declared.
“Look at the road beside the Lucky Fibre that links Odogunyan and manage the traffic. Why would anyone going to Odogunyan from the Lucky Fibre axis have to get to Itamaga or Sabo to do that when the road beside the Lucky Fibre can be fixed to ease traffic?
“All that we need is a grader and roller. If Ikorodu North LCDA, as a council, cannot afford that, the Ikorodu LG under our administration would go into partnership with the council to do that and develop the road and others because the traffic situation is not only affecting people in Ikorodu North LCDA but entire Ikorodu division”, he said.
“We would work with other councils as well and create opportunities for our people. Imota is another council in focus with the Rice Mill located in the council, so also is Ikorodu West LCDA in the area of maximising its water potentials and others too”, he told THE IMPACT.
While canvassing for people to vote Hon. Mathew Adesanya come May 30 during the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also vote him to become the Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA at the main poll in July, , Hon. Olosugbo said that the council would experience development if Hon. Adesanya is voted into the office of the Chairman in the council.
“Incoming Chairman, Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area, Insha Allah, come July 24, 2021, Hon. Mathew Alliu Adesanya”, he prayed.
“Let us talk about development and not because Hon. Mathew is a member of the APC or our good brother, but because we are not happy with the state of development in Ikorodu North LCDA”, he said.
“The Council is like this under someone that was Executive Secretary for over a year and Executive Chairman for four years making over five years.
“They have been shouting that there is lack of funds and yet, they are driving G – Wagon, Mercedes Benz.
“What we are saying is that the grassroots government must be by the people and for the people.
He said that any Council Chairman with fear of God will be concerned with the people’s wellbeing and how to make life easy for them.
While charging residents to ask the incumbent Chairman of the council what he has done with the mandate given to him, first as the Executive Secretary and now as Executive Chairman for over five years, the young aspirant also charged the residents to ask what employment opportunities and other developments that the Chairman has implemented for lkorodu North LCDA.
“If you don’t have the fear of God, there is no way to fear God. Ask them what employment opportunities they have created in the last five and half years.
“The largest Rice Mill in West Africa has been under construction in the last five years in Imota, unfortunately, there is no Council Chairman that is thinking of engaging 50 youths in Ikorodu to be growing rice so that when the mill is finally ready, they will not go to Jigawa and Kebbi to get rice but from Ikorodu.
“This is a conversation about development; future and our lives. Look at our roads as well.
“Who is thinking for us? It is unfortunate that our local government cannot invest in farming. Look at the whole of Agbede where we have lands, with only N10milion, we will engage about 100 youths in steady farming”, he said.
“One hundred youths will be employed for life with N250, 000 in Ikorodu LG and Ikorodu North LCDA, if we are elected. Mathew will get 100 youths engaged in farming in Ikorodu North LCDA if elected and they will be engaged for life.
“They will be telling you that they don’t have money and the largest industrial estate in Lagos State is in Ikorodu North LCDA, let me not even mention Nigeria or West Africa. What partnership are they doing with these companies to alleviate poverty?”, Hon. Olosugbo asked.
“On the day of the election, ask them the job they have created that they can give their own children?
“Once you vote Mathew as your Chairman, also be prepared to ask him as well after four years the job he has also created that he too can offer his children to seek for re – election.
“Today, let our party change and change for the better”, Hon. Olosugbo charged residents.
