A young grassroots politician, Mr Shokunbi Idris Olaniyi, has assured residents of Ward A in Ikorodu Local Government of quality representation if elected to represent them in the Legislative Arm of the Ikorodu Local Government Area in the coming Council election in the state.
The 35 years old aspirant, in accordance with the directive of the party, has obtained and submitted his nomination form.
He is a popular aspirant within the Ward A which comprises of Eyita, Okeriya, Ishenga road, Laketu, Olajomiyin and Ageye.
Shokunbi is a graduate of Food Science Engineering at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, Osun State, between 2005 and 2012, and served at the Community High School, Adazi in Anochia LGA, Delta State, in 2013 for his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) after the successful completion of his first degree.
The Councilorship aspirant attended the premier college in Ikorodu Division, Oriwu College, between 1998 and 2004 for his Secondary education and Debo Day Nursery/Primary School also in Ikorodu from 1991 to 1998 for his primary education.
He contested for the same position in 2011 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he was an active party member.
Shokunbi decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2017 alongside his political leader, Sen. Musliu Obanikoro.
Speaking with THE IMPACT, Shokunbi, while stating that he would work with other Councilors in making bye – laws and resolutions that would further enhance development in his Ward and Ikorodu LG in general, also said that his programmes would be aimed at ensuring a government of inclusion, both in his Ward and in the Council, and making sure that people have sense of belonging.
He also said that he would use his position to draw the attention of the council to the state of deplorable roads, poor health facilities and inadequate water supply in Ward A with the aim of ensuring that those concerns are addressed.
Another area that the young politician said that he is passionate about is Youth and Women Empowerment and Welfare for the aged people.
As a concerned resident, Shokunbi said that he is not pleased with the state of the Ikorodu cemetery and that if elected, he would ensure that the final resting place for the dead is rehabilitated by the council.
