The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the representative of Ikorodu Constituency I, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, has called on aspirants and political parties in the state to engage in a peaceful campaign by selling their programmes to the people and desist from any act capable of promoting violence.
He also charged residents to assist the government in tackling criminal activities in Ikorodu and the entire state.
The four – term lawmaker made the appeal on Wednesday, May 12 in a statement he signed to commemorate the end of Ramadan fasting and Eid – il – Fitr celebration.
“I call on all the good citizens of the state, particularly my constituents in lkorodu, to keep the peace and collaborate with the government to rid the state and lkorodu communities of criminals and criminalities, while remaining vigilant always and reporting suspicious activities promptly to security agencies”, Hon. Agunbiade said.
“Since we are moving from religious season to the season of election in the state, l want to appeal to all political parties and aspirants to maintain the peace, engage in issue based campaigns that will be devoid of utterances and actions that will heat up the already charged atmosphere in the country.
“Politicians should tolerate one another and conform with the etiquette of democracy which is about political representation and delivery of services to the masses”.
Agunbiade also charged parents to keep eagle eyes on their children and wards and ensure that they are not engaged in any criminality or immoral acts.
“As part of felicitations for the season, I call on parents to keep serious watch on their wards and discourage them from criminal and immoral activities”.
He congratulated the Muslim faithful that observed the 30 days Ramadan fasting and enjoined them not to go back to ways that are not in tandem with the dictates of God.
“I want us all to appreciate and congratulate those who have successfully observed the 30days of fasting and prayers as well as abstinence from vices and indulgences during the month of Ramadan, ending on Wednesday 13th May, 2021.
“While I enjoin all Muslims to sustain the good habits and ideals of the holy month, going forward, I pray that will God grant all supplications offered unto Him during the holy month”.
The representative of the Ikorodu Constituency I also charged that residents of the state should adhere to the COVID 19 protocols while observing the eid – il – fitr celebration.
“Very importantly, I commend all religious leaders in Ikorodu Division and the state and advise that the protocols and guidelines on the COVID-19 pandemic are religiously observed”.
